Does anyone know if it is possible to switch the order of colleges I put on my Syracuse application after I already submitted it? I know I can call admissions to find out but I was really just wondering if anyone has ever done this or knows someone who did. Thanks!

DD is a dual at Whitman and Newhouse. I believe you will need to contact admissions as there a so many slots available for each school. DD knows another student who entered as a Whitman/Newhouse since his preferences were not properly listed and Newhouse was his first choice. When he realized late in the process Newhouse single enrollment slots were filled. He now is singly enrolled in Newhouse as he dropped the business program.
Good luck you.

Thanks funfatdaddy. One more question: If I requested a switch from Arts and Sciences as my top choice to a dual program between Arts and Sciences and another school that is more competitive, would that jeopardize my chances of acceptance to Syracuse in general, or would they still accept me for Arts and Sciences if I am competitive for that but not for the other program? The thing is, if I don’t apply to the dual, I know I have zero chance of being admitted to the more competitive program, so I’d like to give it a try even though its a long shot. But not if it leads to complete rejection: I’d rather go to Syracuse for Arts and Sciences than not get accepted at all.

@thurber…You may want to call admissions to make sure. Last year DD was told by her admissions counselor that each school in the dual program would make a decision on her application independently. So she could have been admitted to one school or the other or both. Also, Syracuse gives you the opportunity to apply to three choices. You can put the dual as your first choice and then put each school individually as a second or third choice. DD’s second choice was another dual with one of her first choice schools and a new third school. Hope this helps.
DD really loves Cuse.
Good luck to you.

I didn’t realize there was a certain number of slots set aside for dual program applicants and a certain number for single program applicants . Which do you think would be easier to get into: a dual Newhouse/Arts and Sciences program, or straight Newhouse?

I believe both would be equally difficult. I would suggest applying to the one that appeals most to you. If you only apply to the dual, you could be admitted to one or both colleges. All Newhouse students must have a minor in addition to their Newhouse major. A lot of Newhouse students do later decide to take an additional major.
Good luck to you.
