The end of the semester is approaching and i’m floundering. I have a C in AP world and my other grades are suffering. If i were to switch out, I could still take the AP test and the massively reduced stress will help my other grades. It’s not that i can’t do the work it’s just that i am a stem person rather than a humanities person. How bad would this look on my transcript?
Colleges will certainly be concerned if you get a C in a college-level class, then quit it entirely. Even if you can get a 5 on the exam by self-studying, it comes off as if you can’t handle the pressure of college-level work.
You would have to notify every college you applied to/have been accepted at about the chance in schedule.

Didn’t realize that. I would talk to your guidance counselor about how your transcript would look if you make the switch and its implications for college applications down the road. See if the AP class would show up as a withdrawal on your transcript or not.
If you’re really struggling, switch out of it. Yes, it won’t look the best, but you’re only a sophomore, most kids your age aren’t ready for college level courses.
