Switching Residences

Hi, I was put in a single room in SOLIN hall
I would like to switch to any of the Upper REs's (sepcially MOLSON)

I was wondering if anyone knew

(1) if the administration normally allows you to switch residences (i got my 11th choice)

(2) who i should contact, and if there is anything i could say that it would be more likely that i could switch

(3) anyone want to switch with me? Does mcgill allow that?

you have to wait until sept 15th

i got a rvc single...the most expensive one! i don't even remember wat number i put that as cuz i didn't think i would ever get assigned to it. solin hall was actually my 2nd choice and i would really like to switch to that. does anyone kno the process of switching? i really can't afford $1300/month..

Call the McGill Housing office directly....they are very helpful and the least bureaucratic on campus. Explain that you cant afford the assignment and that you are interested in Solin. Sometimes assignees to Solin opt out, so there may be room for you to switch and they can assign a temp housing person to your RVC room. But, call them directly, soon.

P.S. My daughter loved Solin. You must have put RVC as number one, since you certainly would have gotten Solin as your number 2. My daughter was WAY down on the lottery list, over 2000, but got Solin since it was her first choice.

no, greenbriar was my no.1 choice. rvc was like my 11th or something, i don't even kno cuz i totally didn't expect to get it. so i prolly got a REALLY low number..on facebook, there are a couple girls who put rvc as their LAST choice and got assigned to that..

i called the office and all they told me was that i have to wait until sept. 14. i don't mind staying in rvc for 2 weeks or so if i kno that i can move somewhere else.

my son got solin, he asked for it because his friend from home got it last year (her 11th choice) & she loved it.

In Solin, just watch out for rooms facing "South" (towards Atwater Market) on the 3rd or 4th floors. The sun is just brutal in August-October and in spring-sumer. The huge windows just heat up the apartments to an unbearable level. We finally got a tip to put aluminum foil, with the reflected side facing out over the windows and that helped a great deal.

I was pretty disappointed when I got Solin. But a mcgill student made a video about all the mcgill rez on youtube. I checked out solin. It doesn't seem so shabby. U just gotta take the metro and barring delayed trains, it will take you max 15 mins. You can get a monthly pass for $30 for the metro.

Just go to youtube and search for "Mcgill rez"

I would much rather live at RVC than Solin, which is where I got assigned to. Is there any way we’re allowed to switch?

Hey!
I have been assigned Solin Hall, and I read that you have been assigned RVC. I would love to swap with you… do you think that’s an option?
