So I got into uci but got in with my alternative major which is criminology. I wanted to know how relatively hard it is to switch to business admin? I’ve heard that it is very impacted but just wanted to hear some insight from what you’ve heard about the process. I’ve also considered switching to business Econ or business information systems but what I mainly wanted to study was marketing so I don’t know how well these two would align with that. UCI has been my dream school and I really want to know more information because apart from that the only other reasonable option would for me to go to UCR which I’m not that fond of.
My understanding is that it is extremely difficult to switch to Business Admin as they only take a handful of students a year who are changing majors (<10?). I believe you need to take at least a full year of courses (prerequisites and mgmt courses) and have an extremely high gpa to transfer in.
This is directly from the UCI website:
Review of applications and selection to the major is governed by the Undergraduate Programs Committee. Admission to the major is very competitive due to limited space availability; less than 10 students per year are typically accommodated. Completion of the prerequisite courses does not guarantee admission into the major.
