Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone has heard of any past transfer students being able to successfully switch within the college of engineering at Berkeley. The short side of the story is that I was admitted for the fall of 2017 for Civil Engineering; however, I am now expressing a lot of interest in Mechanical engineering instead. I looked on assist.org and it showed that the pre-reqs for admission into the school was pretty much identical for both major. On the transfer conditions however, it stated that transfer students who were accepted into the college of engineering may not switch/add major. I have heard that you can still switch despite that statement. Because I have completed the pre-reqs for both majors, and that it is within the same college, do you guys think that its possible for me to switch? I have already emailed my adviser. I just wanted to get the public opinion on this. Thank you so much guys!
I’ve been told many times in many informational sessions by many counselors that it isn’t possible to change your transfer major. It’s also pretty plain here: http://engineering.berkeley.edu/admissions/undergrad-admissions/junior-transfer-admissions Sounds like you’ve found a minor, though.
Thank you for the info haha. I’ll just see what adviser has to say.
Well, make sure to post back here when they say no.
My adviser replied and said basically what your linked said.I also emailed the mechanical engineering adviser, but I’m thinking that it’s going to be the same reply.
