symphony/orchestra ?

Hi guys

I tried looking online for info. but I couldn't really find anything so I'm guessing auditions are annual and not by quarter..I played the violin at my high school orchestra for about 4 years and I would say I'm a fairly good player, but not amazing. How hard would it be to get into the orchestra for non-majors?

are there any other options? I just really miss playing and want to get back into playing

i believe there are two different orchestras here, though the other members will fill in the details. one orchestra is for the music majors/auditioning and is probably difficult to get into.

however, there is another orchestra that is comprised of undergrads, graduate students, and professors that I have heard of. I’m sorry I cant give you concrete details but this one seems to be open for people who played in high school/past and want to continue playing for recreation. I hope you find more info and good luck!

Bob is in the orchestra for non-majors. He’s a freshman and tried out in September and since he made it, it looks like he’s in for all 3 quarters.

Keep an eye on the website because if I recall correctly, they update it during the summer and I can’t remember if he signed up for an audition time in August or the beginning of September.
