Syracuse Acting Audition

I'm doing the unifieds in Chicago next week, and I'm actually pretty nervous. =/
If anyone could give me a rundown of what to expect, that'd be great. I know we'll have one dramatic monologue and one comedic monologue prepared, but has anyone done these auditions before?

Also: something that made me feel better was on their website, it says that if you feel that you "messed up", you can "re-audition" by sending in a taped audition.

Anyone ever taken advantage of this?

My daughter auditioned today for Syracuse in NYC and it was pretty low key. They started with an info session for students and parents. Then the acting students went in a group for a warm up (there were only 5 people auditioning for acting and about 20+ for Musical Theater). After that my daughter got called in first and they chatted a few minutes about things she admired in any specific performance she had seen that impressed her. There were two faculty members in the room. Then she did her two monlogues and was done....whole thing was about 1hour and 15 minutes....break a leg.

Thank you very much! I hope it went well for your daughter. :]

My dd had her Syracuse audition on Sat. in LA and it was very similar to the experience of NJCollege Mom's dd. The SU people were very laid back and friendly. Only 5 students there in the afternoon slot for acting. Only difference is only one teacher listened to the monologues.

Stage_baby: don't worry about messing up...even if you're nervous you will most likely have an opportunity to do one of your monologues again with some addt'l direction.

My D did the MT auditions fro Syracuse last year when they came to Washington, DC and we talked afterwards to several kids who did the acting auditions. They all said that they were given a trash can to move back and forth across the room while they did their monologues. Not sure why, but my advice (for any audition ... not just SU's) is to be flexible and prepared for anything! :)

Thank you both very much for the help!
This makes me feel just a little more prepared. :]
