How do grants work? Do you have to apply annually? I’m worried if my finances improve that my D22 may not be eligible for subsequent semesters.
Wonder if it’s worth the gamble.
I have a third year at Cuse and the grant amount is the same for all years attending subject to minor adjustments in household income. The NPC was pretty much on target with the grant award amount.
Ok so it was Newhouse for film and $10,000 Dean’s and $5,000 annual success for my student.
Did you check junk mail?
There’s no application. It’s based on finances usually
This is the first school with the CSS for us, since I am a divorced parent…How does that work? Our calculator was way off because normally we did not include her dads income since he was not on FAFSA. Anyone know ?
The CSS profile tends to leave admits with less aid than expected–it takes into account the finances of both parents, whether they are together or not. If the noncustodial parent refuses to contribute any money to the educational costs, you may be eligible for a noncustodial parent profile waiver but school’s tend to be verrrrry stingy with these.
That is the same scenario as we are in. I fill out the FAFSA and CSS Profile. While CSS can be a little daunting, it does provide a clearer picture to the school of your household expenses (which the FAFSA does not). I usually zip through the CSS each year as the information is more or less the same from year to year except income adjustments.
We got a family letter and a financial aid letter, but no admission letter. We’ve checked spam so would that come later?
Accepted- email went to school email instead of regular gmail which was a departure from every other school she applied to.
You must have been admitted but the email went to spam, promotions, wtong email address, etc. I wouid call.
1870 Scholarship is pure merit, no need.
My daughter and I both received an email with her acceptance at 4:30 PST. Over the moon! Not sure what college she’s in, she is interested in their packaging design program. Her GPA is about a 4.0 and she has about 6 AP classes under her belt and a couple of Honors courses. No ACT or SAT submitted. No word on any aid yet.
Son accepted to Maxwell with a Chancellor’s Scholarship. We need more merit to make it a strong contender. The scholarship is $15k annually, but other schools hav offered more generous options. He does like ‘Cuse’s program and hopes to make this work. How do we ask for more? Is it even possible?
Congrats to all who were admitted!
I still haven’t gotten a decision in email, PST. Nothing in my portal yet either. Is this a bad sign…?
We’re going to try to appeal. At least for a Grant. There’s no way we can make it with a $15,000 scholarship from an $80,000 school. We were hoping for at least a $15,000 grant on top of the scholarship. Here’s crossing fingers for both of us. I’m just confused if the financial aid package we received today is final or will they be adding grants etc.? I was looking at last year and it looks like some people didn’t even receive their packages until May.
did only acceptances come out today?
That’s what it seems like in this thread, but who knows
Accepted. 2023 appears. No clickable link. But does say “You have no financial awards at this time.” So… that means no merit, no aid…? But not even a breakdown of tuition costs like other college portals show…so guessing there is more to come on the financials?
Yes, exactly!
We were surprised that the offer was so modest.
I’ll call the FA office as well on Monday.
Crossing fingers (and toes)!!!
