Is there someone I can speak to in admissions?! It’s honestly ridiculous that Syracuse is the last school my daughter is waiting on and she still hasn’t gotten a decision even though she submitted her application the same time as everyone else. We just need a yes or a no so we can move on. I’m just ready to punch someone honestly.
Accepted to Newhouse!!! No money, but super excited anyway!!!
My son got in to the engineering school, heard at 5:04. No money. Happy to be accepted, but without Merit it isn’t a possibility.
You can reach out directly to the Director of Admissions but I would go once step further and email Chancellor Kent Syverud. I am a parent of a current student and my middle son is still waiting for a decision. The process is unacceptable considering the size of the university. They are not a large school. If their peer institutions like Boston College can release all at once, Cuse can do it too. That being said, while there are many things the school does well, you will scratch your heads with some of the other decisions they make.
Perhaps an email to Syracuse.com describing this disaster of an admissions decision release process would spark some public discussion. If anything it may force some sort of statement from the University. Any sort of publicity seems to get immediate attention.
Even if it’s staffing shortage, just a statement explaining with some tentative plans for release would satisfy many.
Anyone who feels they could summarize should send an email.
Very frustrated and disappointed at this point. Daughter heard nothing, again. Do we have to wait another week? While she watches all these other admits post their videos? this is very disheartening and she can’t help but feel that now the third round folks are the least desirable. Anyone hear of any rejections? Mine is applying for film at VPA first, Newhouse second choice.
Agree!
What are you studying at Newhouse? TV/film?
Other students are getting priority housing, on campus jobs, course registration, etc. both at Syracuse and other schools, while we are paralyzed waiting for an answer. It is beyond unfair, there are tangible, concrete consequences to the “random” groups.
Last year this process went well into late April right up until decision day. I get it we were in the pandemic then, but they were in-person and that spilled over into financial aid decisions as well for new and existing students. Many returning students did not get financial aid packages posted until mid to late July.

My daughter applied Film, VPA too. She also hasn’t heard anything.
DS admitted to Whitman.
Surprised and excited, but agree this last week of waiting dulled some of the enthusiasm. We will visit in April to make final plans.
Daughter accepted to Falk - Sports Management today. We are over the moon! This has been a long time coming. It is her 1st choice and it was the last school we heard from.
Here is the email my daughter is sending to the Chancellor:
“Hello Mr. Syverud,
My name is blank and I was an applicant for the Fall 2022 semester. I submitted my application on December 22, 2021; 93 days ago.
I understand Syracuse received tens of thousands of applications and deliver admission decisions on a rolling basis, but having to wait until April 1st when other students have known for over a week is ridiculous. Even more so that the applications were all due on the same day.
This college admission season has been tough for the entire Class of 2022 and I’m ready to be done with it. Can you please let me know the status of my application so I can just move on and proceed to pick where I will spend the next 4 years.
I loved Syracuse but Syracuse is the last school I’m waiting on and I’d rather be rejected or waitlisted now than be checking my email over and over again for another week.
Thank you for your consideration.”
Any suggestions on the subject line? Is it too harsh?
Yes. My son was accepted to Whitman just after 5:00.
Well written.

Well said. Agreed the process is terrible. This is my third time going through acceptances with my kids and not one school does it this way.
Waiting on one more school that receives double the amount of applications as Cuse does, and they are releasing all at once soon.
Very well written email to Chancellor.
My daughter may send a similar email.
May send one to the media as well.
These kids do not need any additional anxiety or stress to compound what they’ve been through the past couple of years.
Maybe take out the rejection/waitlist sentence. I wouldn’t say Ill take a rejection if you really want to be accepted.
