Syracuse Class of 2026 Admissions

Anyone know a subject that will really catch his attention?

Subject line: Admission Notification Feedback

Iā€™ll send it to the admissions office as well.

Nothing yetā€¦

Iā€™m going to call on Monday. Iā€™m not catching wind of any rejections. Itā€™s all acceptances. Has anyone else heard of any rejections yet? Iā€™d really be disappointed if thatā€™s the way they handled it ā€“ made the kids sit through all the acceptances for three weeks only to find out that the last batch would be mostly rejections. That couldnā€™t be, could it?

Did you visit the school yet and meet anyone from the dept she is applying to? Maybe you can reach out them or the Dean for her major. What is she her major?

I saw 1 rejection on the ZeeMee today, plenty of kids got accepted or didnā€™t hear at all. My Proxy portal had buttons for the bursar and the college of professional studies, both of which were removed before 5 p.m. today. No information on a decision-applied to Newhouse and CAS on January 1st.

Edit: This process is so frustrating. If I wasnā€™t waiting on a financial aid appeal, Iā€™d be committed elsewhere. I love Syracuse but this is taking too long and itā€™s too unpredictable

Yes, thatā€™s the standard reply via email, but I have been follow up by his office on other matters.

My daughter was admitted to Falk - Sports Management. Got the email around 5:30 tonight. She had been deferred from ED1. She is very excited and will most likely accept.

Great advice. We did virtual info sessions last spring during Covid. I told my D we will visit in person if she gets in, but we did do the live virtual sessions and a video tour. Maybe contacting them again , the Dean, is a viable idea. She wants to study film. First choice is VPA (used to be called transmedia) for more artsy film; second choice is Newhouse for TV/film.

My daughter too! Wonder how many young women are in the prog?

Sheā€™s a Psychology major but we live in the Midwest so visiting campus isnā€™t very do-able right now

Daughter had a great interview in October 2021, too. Interviewer even compared my daughter to a character from her favorite tv show, Criminal Minds, when she mentioned what career path she wanted to go into. Very sad it had to come to this.

Alsoā€¦ itā€™s going to be two weeks if wait another week, not one. They started last week. I agreeā€¦ donā€™t say would rather be waitlisted or rejectedā€¦ You could add something to the effect that: I know I am not the only student who feels this way.

One typo? delivers admission decisions not deliver (and if you want to be tie tenses togetherā€¦ receives and delivers) Sorryā€¦ not criticismā€¦ just want her to have the tightest letter possible. She is brave for speaking up.

Well written and said.

Sorry, didnā€™t see that she sent already. Itā€™s great sheā€™s being proactive.

I would think an upward trend, dozens of extracurriculars, and an overall strong application would be enough to get her in but I guess I was wrong :woman_shrugging:t2:

Donā€™t even get me started on the letter of rec from our Mayor that she wasnā€™t able to submit because of Syracuseā€™s restrictions on the application :joy:

Itā€™s a hard year all around. I read kids took gap year due to covid and our kids are competing with double the applicants. We are in the same situation. My daughter is actually handling it better than me.

My daughter accepted today I think. Havenā€™t spoken to her but we got an email inviting us to accepted students days and saying congrats on your acceptance. Will need significant merit to make it a contender.

Is your daughter going into forensics? Lol
