Yes, thank you for explaining, and I am now understanding the difference. We will ride the wave
OK, so what is the correct wording to describe what Syracuse is doing?
My kid did apply to ASU, which has rolling decisions. Every other school kid applied to released decisions to all candidates on the same date.
Do you think Syracuse had made a final decision about whether to admit/deny/waitlist my kid at the beginning of March and just doesnât have the technology available to let all kids know on the same date? Or do you think my kid is still in some undetermined category and Syracuse is waiting to see what happens in the first two weeks of decision releases to finalize their decision on my kidâs application?
Syracuse is rolling out decisions in waves. Thatâs how one would sum it up.
Youâre right, maybe itâs not a match made in heaven and thatâs okay. Itâs about more than just the decision; itâs the principle of the situation. The last 2 years havenât exactly been stress free for our children and Syracuse knows this yet they still choose to release decisions this way.
As for demonstrated interest, my daughter attended multiple virtual events, emailed her admissions counselor, and did an interview.
Even if the Chancellor never sees the email, itâs okay. At least she knows she actually spoke her mind instead of sitting in silence in fear of consequences. If your child canât speak up for themselves now, then what are they going to do for the next four years while theyâre away from home?
Exactly @lll1 - Why is Syracuse doing this when most private schools manage 1 day of RD decisions?
As for our kids, they are handling the process as well as can be expected but this method puts Syracuse in a bad light. Disliking it and being frustrated doesnât mean that youâre not a good fit for the school. Itâs a legitimate complaint.
What should we expect this week? Since Friday is 4/1, will that be last wave? Or will there be some ripples each day this week?
Safe to say it will wrap up when your student receives an acceptance, rejection, or waitlist notification. According to their website, admission notification begins (via email) late March 2022. No deadline is specified other than the candidateâs reply date (May 1st).
Itâs a good guess
Ooh interestingâŠI just assumed that all schools needed answers out by 4/1âŠbut I guess that is not the case here!
Oh Tom Petty you are so wiseâŠthe waiting is the hardest part!
I completely agree! Identifying problems with the admissions office doesnât override how the student feels about the campus, atmosphere, or student body.
In my daughters my slice portal there is a 1 on the Financial Aid to do list. When clicked on has the to do item listed as âupload methodâ and status 'Notifiied". Is this the standard view?
It is standard. You can ignore it as long as that is the only to do item
My son thankfully has already been admitted, but I reached out to someone in admissions about another matter and he mentioned this in his reply:
I should also note that Syracuse University has received a record number of applications this year, totaling nearly 41,000 applications, while only having room for about 3,650 new students.
My son was admitted last Friday right after 5:00. I agree it is hard to wait but we are still waiting to hear from other schools as well. I know it seems like most of the notifications have been acceptance letters but I think it is more likely that people post when they are accepted as opposed to when they are rejected. Hang in there.
yes, thatâs the correct view
How long after acceptance letter did it appear?
Within a couple of hours I think
My daughter was admittedâŠletter dated 3/19. No merit is mentioned. When I clicked through to the admission portal, there is a section that says âstudents selected to receive a merit-based scholarship will be notified approximately two weeks after receiving an admission decisionâ fingers crossed that something comes through!
Reply from Admissions office regarding the email my daughter sent to the Chancellor last Friday:
âThank you for your message. Notification for Fall 2022 Regular Decision candidates began March 16 and will continue weekly. Decisions will be released via email to the address provided on the application. Unfortunately, I am unable to release specific dates. I apologize for the inconvenience. I hope this information is helpful. Please reach out should you have any additional questions.â
Oh well. I know of 4 students out of 17ish that applied from my school that have been accepted, all seem to be different waves. Weâll see by Friday maybe?
