No, it doesn’t mean they don’t love the school, but you can use the net price calculators to get an idea of cost, choose an ED option that is within your budget, and apply at the same time to rolling/early action schools. This is the same dilemma everyone faces and it’s unlikely that a school is going to be less expensive in the RD round anyway.
I hear you. My point was being made to the person who said those who don’t apply ED aren’t serious about the school.
If I want to attend X and it is out of my price range without merit aid, then applying RD could just mean I can’t afford to apply ED (and commit to paying without merit ad being a sure thing).
Yes, a price calculator can be used. Yes, some need merit aid and can’t afford full pay or even the risk of not getting merit aid.
If someone does not risk paying full pay, that doesn’t mean they aren’t in love with the school.
