Syracuse Class of 2026 Admissions

Did anyone get back to you regarding your FA package? We still haven’t heard anything.

Nothing…daughter called 2 days ago, they said they would review and email her - NOTHING! She has given herself a deadline of 4/22, she has two other schools in the running. If we don’t hear from Syracuse, then it wasn’t meant to be. This is my 3rd child going to college and no other school (out of 21) has had this issue. And since they did the same thing last year, tells me they just didn’t care about fixing the issue.

We have received our financial aid package…email came to my daughter today that is was available on MySlice and it was there. A decent package but not enough to make it doable in my eyes…but going to let my daughter decide if she wants to take on debt.

My daughter received her offer this morning as well. It was actually even better than she expected. Coincidentally, she also received more money from her first choice school, Clemson, this morning (after an appeal) so she has officially made up her mind to go there. Just happy to have all the pieces come together to make the choice! Good luck!

Just wondering if anyone placed on the waitlist has been offered a spot yet? I know that Syracuse indicated that would come after June 1st but I know that sometimes school start to reach out before the May 1st deadine - even when that’s not what they officially say.

Received a response from our April 5 inquiry as to when we can expect to hear abt FA.

Response:

“Apologies for the delayed response, we have received everything requested at this time and are working to complete the overall review for your financial aid package. Once our review has been finalized, we will send out an email notification so you may view your award on MySlice!

Unfortunately, as our review is not yet complete, we do not have an estimate for when your financial aid award will be available.

Best,”

I am very happy my daughter did not wait around and committed elsewhere. Are they really expecting these poor kids to hold out until just a few days bf May 1st deadline to hear about financial aid?

Unbelievable!

My son received his FA package within days of his acceptance in March, however one of his friends has not. His mother told me that he called the other day and was just told he would have it by May 1st! Unbelievable. Syracuse is his first choice but they don’t know if it will be financially feasible. I feel terrible for them.

Same exact boat here. We’ve ruled it out and our daughter is deciding on another college this weekend. Insanity.

Friends son finally got his package. Its not enough, sadly. They are going to try to appeal. But it’s so late at this point.

I’m so sorry you and so many others (other schools as well) are in this stressful situation. I am curious though, why the urgency to decide this weekend, after waiting so long. College admissions is such a long and grueling process, what’s one week longer? I assume you have a number in mind that will work for your situation, or won’t work. Why not just hang on a few more days and see if that number comes through. Please know I do understand your frustration. I just don’t understand at this point why anyone wouldn’t wait until May 1st. The constant emails from the schools do a great job at putting the pressure on, but keep in mind they are just emails. No schools are going to pull their offers. Good luck to all

I hear you, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t still keep checking email and Myslice every day for a last-minute development. But we haven’t even been able to tell our daughter to consider Syracuse as one of her final options because without significant financial aid, it is way out of our price range. Meanwhile, roommate and housing opportunities at the other three schools she’s considering are shrinking. And, more importantly, it’s just too late in the process to still be dealing with that kind of uncertainty. She has to seriously think about the options she actually has and decide which one she really wants—without the psychological tether of wondering about a phantom possibility. So last night she tentatively decided on our in-state school, Penn State. She is going to wait to click the commit button for a couple more days, just in case. But we are all glad that the tortuous indecision is over.

For those of you that are waitlisted it is only really feasible at school like Syracuse if you’re not expecting financial aid. Look at how many people that were excepted are still waiting on their decisions and the waitlisted people are going to be at the end. Note that when my daughter got in off the waitlist, she didn’t even get a real acceptance at first. She got a letter saying if she guaranteed she was coming then she could be accepted. Also note for those that are frustrated with financial aid decisions, it will be this way every year that your child attends.

Thank you for the insight. Regardless of the aid headaches, would you say it was or wasn’t worth it?

Thank you. So frustrating. When we plugged in all our numbers for this school – on Naviance, on Syracuse’s own financial calculator – it came back as very doable, more so than most of my daughter’s other schools. So far hasn’t turned out to be true. We are still on the wait list. Daughter won two awards since applying, so she’s interacted a few times with her admissions counselor, who’s been really nice. D asked about financial aid should she be offered a spot and the counselor said that office was separate. Rough year.

Syracuse is a very expensive school outside of tuition. The food is terrible so they order in a lot. Not the safest at night so they Uber a lot. Flights have decreased and are very expensive. Very sorority oriented and that is expensive. And the list goes on.

Oh dear. DD has her heart set but maybe we should reconsider.

Applying RD doesn’t meant a student isn’t all in. Sheesh.

Not everyone can afford to pay 100%, which is what will happen when one applies ED.

You must know this already.

It’s not true that ED means you will pay full price.

Agreed. My daughter was ED and received excellent merit aid and financial aid.

Good to know. Since ED is binding, then people are not able to price shop. If they need to price shop, it doesn’t mean they don’t love the school.
