Syracuse rescind my admission??

I have been accepted at Syracuse University as a pre law student. I am a little nervous because in AP Biology I will be ending with a D. I am currently taking 4 AP classes (bio, gov/pol, psychology, and business). In all 8 of my classes I have a B+ or better. I have fulfilled my science requirement for graduation so I am not worried about that. I am just worried if they will rescind my admission.

Correction: it’s not 8 classes I meant my other classes. My other classes are pre-calc, advanced english, gym, AP psych, AP government and politics, and College business)

A D will be a problem. Rescinded possibly or you will enter on academic probation.

The common saying on CC is that you need to avoid D’s, F’s and felonies. Agreed that a D could be a problem. Is there anything you can do to get the grade into the C range?

They could rescind it. But, I think it’s unlikely unless you plan to be a science major or were accepted into engineering. They will see the D when they get your final grades from your high school. At that time, they may send you a letter asking for an explanation. If I were you, I’d respond and explain what factors contributed to your poor performance. Don’t blame someone else. But, you might point out that you over challenged yourself with the four APs and that you’ve learned you need to do a better job of balancing your courses in the future. If you can pull off a 3 on the AP exam, it may help redeem you. Don’t let this ruin your last few weeks of school. I’d make a plan B, like attending a local community college and reapplying for next year, so that you can let go of the worry. Good luck, you’ll be fine!

I doubt 1 D will change anything. Just end strong with Bs and As in your outher classes. They obviously know your potential. Plus, it’s an AP course and sh*t happens.

I’m currently in CAS and had the same situation. Got a D in a class right after I was admitted. Based on experience I would say don’t worry about it. They admit you based on your application. In my situation, I emailed them immediately explaining the situation and their response was basically that there wasn’t a problem since I had clearly shown myself to be a strong student before this took place. So I would recommend that you email them and just offer them full disclosure to find out for sure just for peace of mind. But speaking based on my own experience, you should be fine.
