I always thought about majoring in Architecture, since the only other major I had in mind was Biology. I saw Syracuse had a good Architecure program, so I figured it would be worth a shot at applying. How difficult is it to get in? If I was to apply, I would need to get done the personal portfolio and personal essay and questions they have. I assume it would be a high match for me to get in, possible low reach. Most of the schools I am applying too are pretty much safe schools. Other than University of Delaware and Rutgers is not a guarantee.

I might as well apply for the heck of it then.

I am applying to the Syracuse School of Architecture. Did anyone find out if they got in?

well i hear that for the SOA they accept around 100 freshmen into the program every year. About 800 people applied last years so it is fairly competitive. I think really for most architecture schools it's really the portfolio that can make or break you. They really like to see a fair amount of freehand drawings in the portolfio (according to their website). I would check out thier website for more information. Good luck with all of your schools!

SOA accepts students for pretty much two reasons--outstanding portfolio, or portfolio that shows potential and outstanding academics. Yes, about 100 freshmen are in the program each year, but by the beginning of 2nd year, that's usually in the 80s. Archi at Syracuse is intense, but the degree means a lot because of that.
Note--you pretty much /can't/ transfer into archi (from another degree)...you can only do it at the beginning of a semester, and that puts you a year behind, so if 6 years of your college is your thing, feel free, but...you've been forewarned. =p
