Any helpful hints??!! My D was accepted to both for Vocal Performance. She loves both schools and their programs. Miami has the obvious weather in its favor, but any direction as far as program and curriculum? Thanks! I have really enjoyed this forum; wish I had known about it much earlier in the process! I will certainly recommend it to kids I know that are coming up. Thanks to the Dads :)))

Bag of beans - Frost probably has a better reputation for music, but ‘reputation’ is a superficial measure, and is only one of many parameters used to make a proper decision.

Having just driven through Syracuse this week (not the Univ. but the city all I can say is bleh. I liked both schools when I saw them though. The weather should certainly be considered especially for a voice major.

Private instructor, ensemble opportunities, potential for gigs, percent of grads to undergrad and how that may effect studio and ensemble placement are prime considerations for many. For curriculum specific comparison, you have to consult the detail degree requirements and course distribution (in the undergrad handbook usually in a link off the academic pages) at each institution.

Percent of students completing in four years can be another consideration beyond the obvious ones.

Look at both retention and graduation rates. Very telling statistics that are often overlooked.
