Well so if I click ‘no’ though, nothing will say, “Will you like to be in this college” or whatever? If not, I guess I might as well just click ‘Yes’ to wait.

@Rodney: Well I’m sure that that is true, but I just think the whole idea is dumb because in most cases the University or College won’t accept many people out of Waitlist or any, and some people like myself would rather not lose a deposit on a University or College, especially when they can be pricey. But I understand.

If I were you and Syracuse was my #1, I would 100% take the wait list

If you don’t get in, you don’t lose any money because you’ll go to the school you put your deposit to. If you do get in, then the deposit money was worth losing because it was your #1 school.

For the record, I didn’t even get wait-listed to my first choice (Newhouse). I guess I just didn’t get accepted there at all. I’m on wait-list for Arts and Sciences… Good grief. Figures this was my first choice university :(.

Your admission, after being waitlisted, is probably based on how many deposits they receive by May 1. They also figure that, if Syracuse is your top choice, you will willingly forfeit your deposit to another institution. Unfortunately, the reality of being accepted after being waitlisted is not likely. Sorry to say.

■■■■■, in the end, I’m pretty sure I won’t even get any money to even go, or enough that I won’t be buried in loans. I guess only time will tell.

You can’t say it’s not worth a try though. If someone gave you a free lotto ticket and told you the winner got a million dollars, would you throw the ticket away?

Keeem: call admissions and tell them you will attend if admitted; better chance of WL acceptance to a&s than Newhouse…and if you would attend regardless of which school there, tell them that too…

A friend of ours cleared the wait list for Newhouse last fall. After being waitlisted, he contacted the school to express his continued interest and was finally admitted, though after putting a deposit on his second choice school.

…and ironically, my son was notified today that HE was waitlisted for Newhouse. He’s a bit relieved because he wants to attend a smaller university and he felt Syracuse was to big for him. (WE wanted him to go there, though )

Got an Email today around 5 saying I was waitlisted for School of Information Studies. Not my first choice. I wanted Newhouse. I accepted the waitlist. We’ll see what happens. :/

I guess everyone that got an email yesterday was waitlisted? Did anyone get an email last week saying they were rejected? I still haven’t gotten one and my worry is that they did acceptances last week, waitlists yesterday, and rejections tomorrow :/

SO far, everyone that I’ve spoken to has gotten accepted to Syracuse on a Friday. Wait listed on a Tuesday. However, I’m not sure when people got rejected? I’m still waiting, I was fortunate enough to land a personal interview with Syracuse, and I applied in mid December, but I haven’t heard anything yet. I’m terrified, because maybe this last wave of people are rejections :/.

I have talked with an admission officer and they finished reviewing my app this week and I applied on December, so I think there will be rejected and accepted students tomorrow.

I was wondering if it’s possible to transfer into CAS before attending?

I got into iSchool (which is great but that really wasn’t my intended major! :[) but I want to do CAS so I can transfer into Newhouse for Advertising (my intended major). Is it possible to do this BEFORE attending?

@sunnyshin - I was accepted to CAS in the first wave as a transfer student. I have been hoping to switch into Falk for their child and family studies and inquired directly to the program to see if I could transfer from CAS to Falk before the fall semester. They told me that my credit evaluation was being done by CAS and that basically I couldn’t do anything until I got there in the fall. I don’t know if that would be the same for you as well or if my circumstances are just special since I am a transfer. I would suggest contacting someone in CAS over phone or email and expressing your interest in transferring. At the current school I attend, I did just that before I started my freshman year and was switched into my requested school at the click of a button.
