Syracuse University Early Decision Thread Class of 2017

secondwavegang we’ve got this!

My daughter accepted to Newhouse for advertising. Interestingly her My Slice was up right before 5 PM-- before the email around 5:15. Application submitted on 11/15, but 1st Quarter grades send 12/3 due to Sandy.

98.7 GPA, 30 ACT. Kickline Captain, Competitive Dance Team (outside of school), lots of EC and volunteering with Hebrew School kids since 8th grade. Legacy (mom).

Good luck to all, best years of your life. Let’s Go Orange!

@bcuse911 sorry to hear that, I know how you feel. I received two rejections literally within minutes apart from each other five minutes before receiving my Syracuse email. I almost had a completely break down when I saw it in my inbox. If I wouldn’t have gotten in, I honestly would have no idea what to do. Thankfully they did accept me and I’m glad that you’re planning on transferring right after freshman year; you’ll make it. Good luck!

ps,
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE STILL WAITING TO HEAR!

Accepted arts and science!!!
I would have posted this at 5:00 exactly but i was so excited i forgot haha congrats to you guys who got in and i can’t wait to have you guys as classmates this time next year!!!

@Cayzweig…My stats are 3.5 GPA, SAT 1,830, TOEFL 120. Excellent essays and supplements. Work in the entertainment field, social media director of a clothing brand. Visited campus and interviewed with both admission and program director. Double Legacy.

Only 20 people are accepted so my prayers were heard. SO EXCITED!

Best of luck to you and all of you guys still waiting!

Accepted into Newhouse for T/R/F! Now it’s time for the senioritis to kick in  Congrats to everyone who got in-- see you in a few months. And good luck too all of you still waiting! Try to stay positive, the decision is so close in your future.

@cayzweig I met a guy from the Program while at SU. He applied ED was bumped to RD and then waitlisted. He told me to hang in there 'till the end and don’t lose hope. Again, hope you hear soon and GOOD LUCK!

pickle23 what was your stats if you dont mine telling

Sorry I’m late.
But here are my stats if anyone was wondering.
3.74 cumulative gpa, 1450 sat. (I know, horrid.) (And just recently tool an sat class, so im waiting for those scores). I had an upward trend since freshman year. Started with a 3.3 in freshman year and ended up with a 4.3 so far in senior year. 7 honors, 2 APs. Had an interview (Interviewer told me she was “really impressed”)… So I’m guessing it went great. I visited the school. Many leadership roles. (Vice President of NHS, Vice President of Best Buddies, President of my Church Youth Group, etc) I have have numerous extracurriculars.
But this is why I really got in:
In my interview and essay I was able to explain my sats, my low performance in the beginning of high school, etc.
My recommendations were really good, and I thank my teachers for that. I also started my own photography business since freshman year; which they really liked.
So this is why I love Syracuse, they look beyond the grades and scores. I was able to explain my story and actually be heard.
Congrats to everyone who was accepted! And I wish the best of luck for everyone else. I came, I saw, I conquered.

Hellooooooo!! For those accepted, or not accepted do any of you guys have a twitter? It’s much easier to communicate on! haha If ya’d like, you can just private message me your twitters and we can all go off my account and follow everyone! SU Class of 2017! :D

Accepted into communications and rhetorical studies but I made a huge mistake and it was too late to fix it because I realized a few days before the decision! I put my first choice program second (college of arts and sciences) (economics and public communications undeceided) on the common app supplement by accident! I really want to be in the college of arts and sciences. :(

Well I didn’t post this last night because I was so excited that I got accepted to the College of Arts and Sciences!!! I cried my little heart out! I sent my application in on the 30th of November and my last name starts with an “N”! So I don’t think there is a pattern to how they sent the admission/rejection letters out! I also received my letter at 5:03 PM EST

Accepted to Whitman!!!
3.3 Weighted, 2.9 unweighted.
SAT: 690 R 670 M 770 W (2130) SAT Lit: 730 SAT World: 730 SAT US: 700
8 AP Classes for entire hs career.
Over 500 hours of community service, some clubs, plenty of internships, and leadership positions.
Low-income Hispanic, 1st generation college student. Shoot, I’m going to be the first in my family to graduate hs!
Took two classes at NYU and NYC College of Technology, with a 100 in the latter class.
Essay was pretty awesome, I think. It was about being a Latina from the hood (mixture of funny, tongue-in-cheek, sad and hopeful).

I also had a supplemental rec from an NYU professor whose class I took last summer. He also taught at Columbia, Harvard and Oxford. 100 on the English regents (not very important, but slightly more impressive for me, since my parents do not speak English. But I think I’m just going into bragging territory at this point :3)

I did not expect to get in, because my math grades are atrocious ( pretty bad in math to begin with, and several family circumstances made it difficult to concentrate) I’m so happy that I got in, I can’t even believe it. There is this newly found peace in my mind, it’s amazing. Hope everyone else gets in!

So unbelievably jealous/happy for everyone! I really don’t know how I’m going to wait another 6 days…

Just got my copy of the acceptance letter in the mail :)

im with you buffalogirl95…we will get thru this

i needa find altrernate film schools just in case

My twitter is @meganminier !!! Other accepted students follow me and i’ll follow back!:)

fcormz–I thought you were accepted to Syracuse already. I guess I misread something. I hear NYU is a great film school. Temple University in Philadelphia has a great film program too.

nope didnt get an email yet…i wasnt a huge fan of the nyu school just because of the lack of an actual campus…that is a huge plus for syracuse. plus i doubt i have the stats for nyu. i am also looking at university of rhode island. ill check out temple
