@yunakk21 Congrats! Not an easy feat to get nominated for the Syracuse Coronat! If you look at threads from last year and year before it says that about 100 are nominated and 25 to 50 are invited to interview based on their submissions. What were your ACT/sat and gpa, just for me to get an idea the range needed? Did you get an email and/or letter? Curious what date the letter and email were sent. Thanks in advance.
My myslice account has a tab that says “admissions acceptance form” under applicant services. Obviously, it’s super early so is this just a standard tab for everyone?
Yes. If you click on it, it will display “not available for your use”… Once you get accepted, if you click on it, it’ll display a form where you can either accept or deny your notification. The form actually becomes available about an hour or two before they email the notification, so a lot of people know they got accepted a little before the email.
Throughout this whole college process SU has been my top school. (I visited last March and completely fell in love with Newhouse.) I kept going back and forth on if I should do ED or RD. In the end I decided to apply RD and I really regret it. A couple weeks ago a kid in my calculus got in for engineering (He applied ED.) He literally wears a new Syracuse shirt everyday which just makes me regret my decision even more! Having to wait until March is going to kill me but hopefully in the end it’ll be worth it.
@bxlla123 don’t regret it… a lot of students got deferred in the ED II round. I thought it would be good but they asked for my 1st semester grades even though i applied with a 3.7 gpa and a 1220 sat with strong extracurriculars essay, and recs. Sometimes they just want to see what else you have to offer and sometimes your senior year grades help you out. So in that case, RD could’ve been beneficial for you… P.S.: SU is my top school too!
@LaurynMV hey did they request your midterm grades? when and how? thanks
@caasse yeah they did… They said it in my deferral letter and my school will send it to them by Tuesday
Hello everyone. I applied early decision and was deferred to regular decision. My SAT is a 1210 (600 math+610 critical reading/writing) and my GPA is a 3.9 UW and a 4+ weighted. I am from Georgia and I am ranked 23/400 at my school. Many family members graduated from SU (including my dad). I took 2 college classes at Georgia Southern University, and I received an “A” in both classes. My 1st choice was Supply Chain Management, my 2nd Economics, and my 3rd Sports Management. It is noteworthy is that I completed the SCM pathway offered at my high school. I work 20-25 hours per week, which is basically my extra curricular. My essay was ok, but my recommendations were really good. Interviewed as well. Discouraged by my deferral, but I am hoping to get in Regular Decision.
huh, that’s curious that you were deferred. good luck to you in RD!
Do you think it is possible to be admitted to the Newhouse school if you don’t have EC’s that relate to
writing/journalism?
anyone been admitted yet?
@CollegehopefulAP I too am surprised you got deferred. I think last year’s freshman class had a higher yield rate than was expected so perhaps they are afraid of admitting too many too early? I suspect you will get in RD. Keep us posted.
Hi! Did anyone here apply to the Ischool?
I will definitely keep the group posted. My aunt works at SU in the Faulk College and according to her, I have an excellent shot. I was shocked by my deferral, but I haven’t lost hope.
@CollegehopefulAP I was surprised as well… what were your stats?
1210 Sat, 3.9 UW GPA (4+ W). Ranked in top 5% at my HS (For the record, its not very competitive outside of the top 10%) Took the hardest classes offered. All pre Pre-AP classes and took 4 AP’s junior year. Took 2 college classes fall semester of senior year and I’m currently taking 2 this semester
@CollegehopefulAP What do you put in your application for major?
@my2kidsnj 1st choice: Supply Chain Management in Whitman. 2nd Choice: Economics. 3rd Choice: Sports Management.
Something doesn’t sound right, did you call the Admissions office ?
No I didn’t. What doesn’t sound right? @my2kidsnj
