@acron611 I don’t think so, but I feel like one of us will hear something real soon. I’m checking my email constantly :-S
@meganewarren what major did you apply for? I applied to geology
@acron611 I think undecided or biology
@meganewarren I did some little investigating on the prior year forums. It seems that they release every Friday.
@acron611 good to know. Guess I only need to check my email every five minutes on Fridays!!
@admoz6 No my acceptance letter didn’t mention nay scholarship or aid. Applied to Architecture.
Did anyone here apply to Architecture and receive scholarship?
@acron611 My high stats daughter applied regular decision to the arts and sciences and has not received a decision yet. I have checked the Syracuse threads and cannot find a single person who has been notified yet through regular decision for the arts and sciences (other than the Coronat full-tuition scholar invites which just go out to a few students). My guess is that each individual college within Syracuse has their own admissions release timetable. Arts and Sciences has not begun releasing decisions for regular decision. Syracuse’s Whitman business school has already begun notifying their highest stat applicants with large $25,000 merit aid offers. This year is the first or second year that Syracuse is implementing a new tier of merit aid. It used to be that $20,000 was the highest amount offered to high stat business-oriented Whitman applicants and $12,000 was the highest offered to Newhouse and Arts and Science applicants. However, now Syracuse offers $12,000, $15,000, $20,000 and $25,000 max to the highest stat applicants. They likely offer lesser amounts of scholarships as well.
@trackmbe…in your research do you know what the stats were for those who received invites to Coronet? I have a freshman at Syracuse now with a Chancellor’s scholarship ($15K) in Newhouse/Whitman, and have my #2 child, a current junior in HS, looking to apply next year, and she has a 33 ACT, 4.6ish weighted GPA, all honors and AP’s and currently ranked 8 out of 210 in an all girls catholic school. She wants to be finished with the ACT, but we are really hoping for a shot to compete for Coronet.
@paparent106 in answer to your question it depends on the applicant pool , which varies from year to year. I think a 33 ACT is fine. That’s 99%. If your daughter does not get selected for Coronat it will not be because of her ACT score. My daughter also had a 33 ACT and all honors and AP from a very competitive high school, but not as high a weighted gpa as your daughter. GPA is very important in the selection process. In hindsight my daughter would have had a higher gpa if she took a few less honors and AP --this would have increased her chance for the Coronat. Syracuse is looking for approx. the top 100 applicants to the Arts and Sciences in terms of just gpa and standardized test scores. And then from that group they will look holistically at a number of different factors they weigh in deciding who they invite to “compete” for the Coronat. They will invite about 50 applicants to submit essays and from that group will invite about 25 to visit campus for an interview weekend. I may be slightly off with the number of top applicants they consider and invite to submit essays and invite for an interview weekend. An admission officer I spoke to about this said that this year the applicants selected had no grade lower than A range.
Kind of worried about scholarships at this point, my got 25k a year and honors last Friday and I’m yet to receive my desicion. He applied for business while I’m for comp. science.
@trackmbe3 thank you so much for your long and thorough comment! My brother already got in the engineering school and I was getting nervous that I didn’t hear back. I guess the arts and sciences schools has wah more applicants so they will wait longer. I’m guessing this Friday but you never know.
I really hope it’s this Friday… I’m waiting on two other schools as well and I am losing my mind.
@meganewarren if i was right, it would only be the first wave on Friday. The majority of them will come out towards the middle to end of March.
My son was deferred from ED and was requested to submit any updated exams and mid-year senior grade, which he did. I don’t know when he would be hearing. SU is a reach for him. It’s his first choice. Good Luck everyone!
Another Friday tomorrow and I am so nervous!!! Anyone else?
@LaurynMV im curious to see if they come out tomorrow. last year, they did batches with most of them on Friday. I do not know if its tomorrow, but it only makes sense since people started hearing back last Friday.
I hope SOMEONE hears tomorrow…even if it’s just one person I’ll feel better knowing that decisions are consistently coming out every Friday.
@acron611 true, but I’m confident that they will be because when you look back at the threads for the regular decisions for last year, you see that they actually come out every single Friday starting from mid to end of February… let’s just hope for true best. Good luck everyone
@LaurynMV agreed. hoping arts and sciences releases.
