haha, if you think you can't wait for a countdown like this to be over, just wait! You're whole career will be filled with countdowns...but I guess that's a good thing. ;)

"Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." - John Lennon

Keep that in mind, too.

Like NYCadet12 said earlier, I remember 83 days ago sitting in AP Calculus and realizing there were only 100 days left. Then, it seemed like these 100 days would pass quickly and so far they have. Looking forward to these next 17 days though, it seems they will never pass. At the end of these 17 days is a world that I can barely imagine as to how different it will be and that only makes the wait longer.

In spite of how tough I-day and Beast sounds, I am honestly looking forward to it. Sitting around and waiting for something to happen is sometimes just as bad as the actual event itself. I realize that this is probably not true in this instance, but I can't help feeling like it sometimes.

At the orientation 43 days ago, I remember saying that this place was everything I imagined and more. It was an honor just to be able to walk the halls of the Academy and experience a day of the life of a C4C post-Recognition. Even pre-Recognition (the Terrazzo shuffle, carrying bookbags instead of wearing them, taking the back stairs everywhere, etc.) sounded enjoyable.

Needless to say, I'm anxious for these 17 days pass quickly so that we in the Class of 2012 will have our chance to begin the journey that we all have worked so hard for.

I'm not even thinking about the countdown. That's what's making it seem like a shorter time to me (whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to interpretation...)

Enjoy the here and now. Careful not to wish away the present, the future will be here in a blink. Soon your face will be in the dirt, and push ups, push ups. Appreciate who you are now, for that too will be changing very shortly.

It's kind of interesting how the last month seems to go for just about everyone. Some people take it for granted, other's hold on to every second. I agree though, it was hard for me to wait for it to begin. Regardless of how you treat it, it's the same for pretty much everyone...once it's gone, a part of your life will be gone that you can never fully get back, even if you quit. I'm sure most of the guys and gals on here understand that, which is good.

And for those of you who won't graduate for a few more days, find ways to enjoy whatever you're still doing in school. Because school at the Academy is a whole other "Beast"... ;)

is anyone else starting to get really nervous? Because I sure am!

Of course! Nervous, but still excited. I think you have to be a little crazy not to be at least slightly nervous.

haha, yep...if you don't have at least a small (controlled) amount of nervousness, you're going into BCT WAY too cocky. A limited amount of nervousness should always accompany going into something new (IMHO)...just don't let it control you.

well shoot! I'm to the point of no longer being that excited! Deep DEEP down I still am, but right now I am mostly scared out of my mind because I know that I'm not in a good enough physical condition!

That's the way it's supposed to be. Everybody will get broken eventually. Just keep chugging and working as a team and we'll all make it.

It's been 35 years since I went through my "R" day (Your I-day) and I can remember it like it was yesterday. The thing I remember the most is lying in my bunk after the first day, thinking "What the f#*% did I get myself into?
Four years later I graduated, 20 years after that I retired and now my daughter is a C2C at USAFA. Good luck and hang in there. Many people came before you and survived and so can you.

well, we now all have about 12 days left! depending on when we leave. OHHH it's getting scary!

LALALALALALALA...

I am not listening... I am not listening...

LALALALALALALA...

nearer I-Day draws ;)

The way I'd look at it is that you'll be done with Basic in 50 days!

that sounds good, because I remember day 50 til I-day like it was last week!

Just wait, the countdown till the END of basic will start up pretty soon...

One thing you'll discover about USAFA is it seems to mess up everyone's concept of how time flows, at least while you're at USAFA. The days are long, the weeks are short, the months take forever, and the years pass quickly. I still can't believe it's been a year since my I-day...I remember doing my own countdown like it was yesterday!

i've been out of town the past week or so, and wont be back til this wednesday.. i feel like i'm missing a ton of stuff. like my B&B family, and any other final info.. i'm worried that i'm gonna leave something at home when i leave NEXT wednesday!

Just make sure you go over the checklist they give in that back of that pamphlet. That should pretty much cover everything. I've left off checking things off, just so I can do it next Tues. night. Just to make sure!

My my, we'll have a new class at the Academy next week.

This makes me smile. :)
