T-Minus and Counting Down

Beast is not impossible...all of us made it through, and you can too, as long as you give it your all and work with your fellow basics. It's a group effort. You'll see though... ;)

To put it on your desktop (for Windows XP; probably for Vista too):
Right click the desktop > properties
Click the "Desktop" tab
Click "Customize Desktop..." (at the very bottom)
Click the 'Web" tab and click "New"
Copy and paste this URL: [url=<a href="http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/fullscreen.html?mode=a&year=2008&month=6&day=26&p0=398%5Dhttp://www.timeanddate.com/counters/fullscreen.html?mode=a&year=2008&month=6&day=26&p0=398%5B/url">http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/fullscreen.html?mode=a&year=2008&month=6&day=26&p0=398]http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/fullscreen.html?mode=a&year=2008&month=6&day=26&p0=398[/url</a>] into the "Location:" text box.
Choose "OK", then "OK", then "OK".
Check out the desktop. You can resize/move the active desktop object as desired.

blast! i can't find a way to put in a web URL for vista :(

nice that's now my desktop background.
80 days everyone!

79 days left everyone!! woot!

Glad ya'll are excited...but learn from the mistakes of cadets past and don't get caught up in USAFA just yet.

You guys still have 3 months, give or take, home with your friends and family. Make the most out of it: go on that road trip or camping trip, spend time with your family, and enjoy yourself as much as you can, because once you get here (assuming you're committed to staying), there's no going back to that lifestyle for a long time.

Very wise advice. Read and heed!

From a mom's perspective... I hate the countdown! I am so excited for both my girls, they will be living the adventures that they have been preparing for since beginning school. But my house will be terribly empty come June 24. (That's when Buckaroo's sister leaves.)

Yeah, this fencersmother is not liking that countdown thing much, though I did pass it on to the fencer(s). I like the countdowns which are "days till baby's birth", "days till the wedding" (may have put those two in reverse order), "days till house paid off."

Days till my guys leave home??? Where's the tissue?

Take what G4C is saying seriously. I used my last few months before Beast pretty good, but I think I looked forward the Academy too much, when I should have been enjoying where I was at the time. Enjoy life as it is for you now. Because when it's over, and you get on those buses on I-day, you will never be able to completely return to your old life again (well, as long as you stay at the Academy). But I guess that's just part of getting older in some ways.

You can never go home again, no matter where you have been. Academy, civ college, work... all will change you. Heck, even tennis camp can change you! You're right Falcons11 - I think it is a maturation process.

im glad i got into the prep school so i know to fully enjoy this last 6 weeks of leave ill have for a long while.

ENJOY IT GUYS

74 Days and counting... (5 until this boy becomes a man...;))

meanwhile, only 40 days til graduation!

I know that there are a lot of people who don't like the countdown and I am enjoying my time at home, but I think it is quite entertaining and thus am continuing it.

Only 70 DAYS left!!!!! :)

As you'll find out soon, life at the Academy (indeed, life in general) is just a constant series of countdowns. You'll always be looking forward to something, and that's ok. The problem is when that becomes your one enjoyment, and all you ever think about. While you countdown to the days when you will take the Oath to join the Long Blue Line, just be content with your current life too. It's as simple as that.

falcon has a point, but i find that my life IS preparing for that day i take the oath. its kind of ironic.

66 more days!! woo hoo!

65!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I know what you mean about your life being preparing Flyboy, it seems like all I ever do is workout with the running, lifting and tennis on top of that.

yup, and also getting the endless questions answered, :)
