My son was admitted to Princeton & JHU without an interview, but that was years ago so I’m not sure if you are asking about this year or any year.
My daughter was admitted to Rice last year without an interview. She requested one but applied at the last minute and did not get one.
Williams and Amherst. But they don’t do interviews. See “C7” of the Common Data Sets to see whether each institution considers interview or not.
My S20 was admitted ED2 to Vanderbilt without an interview.
UChicago no longer does interviews.
This is helpful. Now, applicants worrying about not getting interview calls from Amherst, Williams and Chicago can relax.
As suggested by @TiggerDad look at C7 on college’s website to check if your target college still offers interviews or not.
S19 was admitted to Brown, Vanderbilt and Emory without an interview. (Also Colgate)
My D20 was admitted ED to Duke without an interview. She requested one, but there was no alumni in our area.
My son was admitted to Amherst without an alumni interview. He did visit the school and met one of the admissions directors and had a good conversation. We don’t know if it made a difference or not but it may have!
My daughter was admitted to Emory RD without an interview in 2017. She asked for one but never heard back from the school.
My D just admitted to Vandy w/Chancellor’s Scholarship w/o interview.
Among the above listed schools the only two I know of that must have an interview before acceptance are Harvard and MIT, even those two would grant exceptions for circumstance beyond applicants control.
Good for her. It’s impossible to get in these colleges, getting merit money from them must be a very cool feeling. Congratulations!!
Thanks CCM. It’s a similar financial offer to Harvard (both are estimates until RD decisions), but it’s closer to home. I think she wants to pursue life in the NE, so I doubt I can sway her to consider the MOSAIC visit at VU next month.
I’ve been vocal about affording college and being a donut hole family on this forum. We have a well-defined game plan with spreadsheets outlying which top schools our daughter could apply to (Harvard, Princeton, and Stanford don’t use home equity in FinAid calculations so they are automatically financially fit for us). Yale, Cornell, Penn and many excellent schools offered too little aid and no merit in the NPCs to even consider. Several schools including UChicago, Columbia, BostonU, Duke, USC and Vandy would only be considered if merit aid and/or utilizing AP credit to reduce # of semesters could be utilized.
We’re ecstatic that two of our options have come through. She did not receive the Robertson Scholarship at Duke, and USC Trustee Scholarship, but we will wait to see what the final verdicts are on the rest to make a decision.
If it’s the same cost at Harvard then definitely go with her first choice but if Vandy or another similar school comes up with a better estimate, it may make your decision even tougher. Best of luck with rest of the process!
