Taft and Deerfield Chances?

Hello!
My name is Blaine and I'm 13. I go to a small private school in Maine which I have been attending since I was in 4th grade and after bullying and the school just not being the right fit, I am ready to change schools.

The school didn't work and the teachers were too... different then the way I wish to be taught. They don't let you do anything on your own and if they do, they hardly give you any help when asked for guidance thus my grades suffered immensely in 7th grade. In 8th grade, I've been working very hard, but I am an opinionated person and so subjects like math or science when the result is undebatable has always been a bit of a struggle while subjects like English and Art have been easy for me.

My parents say that since I am an actress, singer and dancer that that could put me ahead of others who are only smart, but don't do any extracurriculars. I, on the other hand, have been working hard in my extra curriculars while some of my class grades could definitely improve. My movie "Here Comes The Boom" (In which I have a main part) will be out this Friday and my singing will be featured on a UNICEF ad on major networks all across the country. I also dance (Ballet, jazz and tap) and I play guitar, piano and flute. I have also been considering dates where I could sing at our local hospital (Where my dad is a radiologist) or work at our nearby soup kitchen. I have been rigorously studying for the SSAT's which I will take in either late November or early December.

My brother attended Gov's until his junior year when he was expelled for drug and alcohol abuse. My parents since then hated boarding schools, but after I talked to them about how it was his mistakes and not mine, they agreed to let me apply.

I am proud of myself and I hope that some of my more major accomplishments will help me get into my dream schools.

Thanks!

This is the wrong forum; please post on the Prep School Chances forum. I have asked the moderator to move your thread.

Oh Wow, I’m really sorry!
I’m new here! Hope I didn’t bother anyone too much :S

First, not the right forum. This needs to be in the ‘Chance Me’ sub-forum.

Second, you put way, way, way too much information. There is no need for us to know your name, where you live, what your dad does, or your brother’s school story. You don’t really have much to go off of, so wait until you take the SSAT, and give concrete courses, extra curriculars, GPAs, etc. And even then, post those, and ask the question “What schools do you think would fit me?”. Do your own research, and pull together a list of schools, and then ask about the schools on your list. Decide which ones you will tour, and then decide to which ones you will apply.

The truth is, as long as you have decent ECs, good grades, challenging school work, and good SSAT scores, you have a good foundation for any school. It’s the little things that no one could pinpoint exactly (does the school need a female tuba-playing lacrosse player this year?) that will put you over the edge. Of course, if you scored in the 50th percentile for overall SSAT, and Academy X’s average overall SSAT is in the 80th percentile, chances are you won’t get in. Aim high, yes, but still have realistic thoughts. Have a couple reach schools, a couple fit schools, and a couple safety schools. Make sure that you would be happy at each school before you apply. And, above all, come decision time, love the school that loves you back. If you don’t get into Deerfield or Taft (or get waitlisted), but you get into another school, take that school.

I feel like an idiot. I’m sorry, guys! I’ll delete it and after SSAT’s and touring, I’ll possibly ask again.
