Hello there, east coast friends!
My name is Blaine and I just finished my Freshman year at a small private school in Maine (Little over 300 kids in the upper school division) I am a white female from New Hampshire and I would be applying as a 5-Day boarder as a repeat Sophomore. No FA needed.
I plan on applying to:
-Taft (Big reach)
-Nobles
-Lawrence Academy
-Miss Porter's
-Tabor
-Concord Academy
-Groton (An ultimate reach of ultimate reaches)
Here are my stats!
-I have an 83% average (All A's and B's except for a 76% in math. For the school I currently attend, this is very good and I expect to have anywhere between an 85%-90% average next year)
-I am #1 on my schools varsity tennis team and I hope to play D-3 someday.
-I plan on doing JV field hockey at my school in the fall.
-I do charity work for two organizations, End 68 Hours of Hunger and the Clearcause Foundation (Donating money, spreading the word, packing food, etc)
-I have been singing, acting and dancing since I was five and tomorrow, I will be singing God Bless America and leading newly naturalized immigrants in the Pledge Of Allegiance as they enter America for the first time as legal citizens
-I am involved in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Program (I swear to you on the name of College Confidential, it isn't a beauty pageant; It's about talent and scholarship- I placed Top 10 at states this year and was overall talent winner)
-I am going to try to start a Life Skills club at my school (Learning the stuff they don't teach you in school- How to do taxes, how to go shopping and pick healthy choices, CPR/Heimlich Maneuver, etc. Kind of like Home Ec, but not teaching you how to take after kids and cook and clean all day)
-I am taking the SSAT's in September and I expect to get somewhere in the 80th-90th% range
Thanks a bunch, you guys!
I really appreciate it :)

The 5 day boarding only applies to Nobles. Disregard that for the other schools :D

Is this your finalized list?

^Yes, I think so, unless some crazy good opportunities come to me in the next couple months @mrnephew

Bump!
Also; I was the highest scorer in my class in the National Spanish Exam (89% nationally) and was higher than anyone in my current level in the entire school. My teachers really liked me this year so that’s always a plus. Any help at all would be appreciated you guys!

It looks like you’re applying to a good mix of schools.

You seem like a good fit for Concord; it’s a great place for singing, acting and dancing. The tennis courts at the new athletic campus are very nice. There are plenty of opportunities for community and charitable work. You don’t need all As to get admitted, especially if you come from a rigorous primary school. However, the recommendation/report from your guidance counselor/principal and your other recommendations will need to reflect your ability to handle a rigorous academic program as well as the ability to thrive in an independent school environment. Keep in mind that it’s somewhat harder to get admitted there as a sophomore than as a freshman (though not nearly as hard as being admitted as a junior). Also, as with many schools, it’s getting harder to get in. They had a significant increase in applications last year and the admit rate dropped from 30% to 24%. So it’s good that you’re looking at a variety of schools.

Thanks!
I have a good friend who is going to Concord next year and we were joking around about rooming together, nothing too serious, but I’ll definitely have to schedule a tour for sometime early in the school year. It seems like a more “artsy” school, which I like, but it also offers athletics. I could never do Walnut Hill because with no sports, I think I’d go bananas.

I think the pool of schools you are applying to is great, and I wish you the best of luck!

@boardinghopes Thank you! I appreciate it :)
