Taft?

Like all the other schools I'm applying to I really love it. Only problem for me is I can't seem to find much on their acceptance rate, the median score of applicants that are accepted, and other such information.

Can someone give me an idea of how competitive it is to get into Taft? And what kind of score on the SSAT that would be "safe" when applying?

Edit: Just found some stuff on it on BSR, not sure if this information is totally accurate (30% acceptance rate? No SSAT required?)

Taft's acceptance rate is low due in significant part to the fact that day students are accepted. Yield is much higher for day students than for boarders at this academically prestigious, tradition laden school. Although I haven't checked recently, SSATs should be required.

SSAT/ISEE for Taft is required. I am not sure why it says otherwise on BSR. They were one of the first schools to de-emphasize the SSAT however. They do not admit any candidate with an SSAT lower than 50. The acceptance rate is around 30%, maybe a little higher at 33%. Hopefully you have had a chance to visit and interview at the school, as well as send in the application. Their deadline is the 15th.

2008 Porter-Sargent Handbook of Private Schools has the following info:

Acceptance rate: 22% (the school's own website claims 12%, which seems very low)
Math SAT: 651
Verbal SAT: 641

Your SSAT's should give you your projected SAT scores. The school is definitely considered highly selective. Good luck.

mrpremise,

First time heard of "Porter-Sargent Handbook". Checked it out , pretty expensive. What more info it has, comparing to Peterson's Guide?

Probably not enough more to make it worth purchasing.

Larger public libraries will have it; a friendly school may also be willing to let you look at their copy.
