So a friend of mine was Tagged approve by UCSB but he had GPA under 3.2 (Roughly he had 3.14) so I was wondering if you get tagged by how close your GPA is to the tag contract?

Was that for this upcoming fall? Because the gpa required for TAG changed for Fall 2011 to a 3.2, before it was only at a 3.0.

Either you meet the requirement or you don’t. If he did receive a TAG this year with a 3.14, it’s probably because his UC-transferrable GPA was 3.2 or better (e.g., he had a C in Intermediate Algebra, and excluding it from his GPA brought him up to 3.2).

Yes, he applied for upcoming Fall 2011. And all his UC GPA added up to exactly 3.14 and he still got tagged with UCSB.

Cliffs:
-His UC GPA was 3.14 when he applied during Fall 2010 (For Fall2011 admissions)
-He got tagged approved.

But Ucsb hasn’t even mad TAG decisions. I don’t get how people are saying they got TAG’d to UCSB when everyone received that ambiguous letter basically saying thet they weren’t making TAG decisions tell later…do you know what your friends letter said?

It said he was qualified for Tag and accepted into the TAG program with UCSB. It tells you couple months after you submitted if you were qualified or not.

He’s a biological science major btw.

^no. Qualified? Maybe. TAG formally approved? no.

“Thank you for submitting a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) to UC Santa Barbara for fall 2011. You will be notified of your TAG and official admit status between March 15th and May 1st.”

Supposely official TAG decisions from UCSB come on the March 21st.

I based this on Ms. Sun’s blog:
Santa Barbara - decisions come out in batches starting March 21; all decisions are out by the last day of April - confirmed (I would guess that the TAG decisions will come out on March 21 and the rest will trickle out after that)

We had a university fair yesterday, SB wasn’t there but if they were I surly would of asked them- What the hell was up with the TAG letters? Please don’t ever pull confusing **** like that again! lol

I don’t know but all my friends got the ‘qualified’ or ‘not qualified’ response immediately a month after they send in the TAG form. For ex: if you were to log on your TAG account it would list the school to see if you were approved or denied. My same friend was approved to UCI, UCSB, UCSD but denied from UCR.

I think your friends need to work on their reading comprehension.

Yup, that’s what I got.

Nope he didn’t get that letter, he got status updates. For example it looks something like this:

TAG Status
UC Santa Barbara - Approved
UC Irvine - Approved
UC Sand Diego - Approved
UC Santa Cruz - Approved
UC Davis - Pending
UC Riverside - Denied

And he got little notification (Not the same ones you guys got) that congratulated him on being Tag approved and made a reminder to meet the satisfactory requirement in order to be accepted.

^ you serious i didn’t get that? you ■■■■■■■■?

lolwat

I find it funny that he’s pending for Davis when Davis is in fact the only campus to have actually approved their TAG.

Your friend must be the President’s child.

I’m not ■■■■■■■■, wouldn’t waste my time ■■■■■■■■ around. You guys going to tell me why he got tag approved?? If you guys don’t know then say so, I’m bumping and checking this forum to see why he got Tagged with UCSB when he clearly was unqualified

Well it would appear you’ve caught us (or just me) with our pants down.

If you don’t mind, could you post a screenshot of said TAG approval letter/page?

I don’t think I’ve heard of anyone getting TAG approved by any campus other than Davis.

He probably thinks the letter blkbox posted was an approval letter.

okay so I’ve done a little research & come to find out that status thing your talking about with each campus showing either accepted, denied or pending is true. But only counselors can see it on their account with TAG. So unless your friend viewed his status while in the counselors office on THEIR computer while in THEIR account then yes he would no if he got in or not.

about that “Congratulations” letter he received it couldn’t possible of come from UCI or UCSB because they clearly state that their not sending letters out.

If your friend accidentally made an account as a counselor and can view his TAG status…well that’s impossible because the UC contacts the counselors school to verify if he/she is actually a real counselor.
…your friend might know somebody or be related to somebody that works for a CC and can make an account and that’s how they got to view it, maybe??

but other than that, I really think your friend might not be telling the full story or you might didn’t understand him completely.

^^ Thank you Samyrahlee!! I was looking for a serious response and I got it. I’ll ask him how he got the responses so early and let him know about how only counselor can know and see if he made an account as a counselor.
