I was reading the TAG requirements for UC Davis and it stated that I will have to have full time status from spring 2016 to spring 2017. My question is that do I need to be enrolled in summer semester as well to qualify?
Thank you for answering!

It says
"CCC enrollment:
Full-time enrollment at a CCC from spring term 2015 through spring term 2016 is expected, though part-time enrollment is permissible for good cause. Students enrolled part time at a CCC should provide a brief explanation about reasons for part-time attendance in the section of the UC TAG Application titled “Additional comments regarding your TAG application.” An example of “good cause” would be a student’s need to attend school part time because he/she is employed.
A student must have been enrolled at a CCC spring term 2015.
A student must be enrolled fall term 2015 at the current/primary CCC indicated on the UC TAG Application.
A student must be enrolled at a CCC winter or spring term 2016.
Exceptions to winter or spring term 2016 enrollment are considered only if the student is not attending school anywhere that term, has met all requirements and is academically well prepared for the rigors of UC coursework. A student must provide reasons for non-enrollment in the section of the UC TAG Application titled “Additional comments regarding your TAG application.”
It doesn’t say anything specifically about taking summer session, but it says “full-time enrollment at a CCC from spring term 2015 to spring term 2016” which i’m assuming includes summer session.
You can contact your TAG counselor that is assigned to your CC, they are usually pretty helpful.

Thank you for answering. I’m going to meet with a counselor tomorrow and I will report back with my findings!
Update: I asked my school’s TAG rep, she said that you don’t have to be enrolled in summer to be considered full time student. She also said that UC Davis’ full time requirement isn’t strictly enforced
@diamonddogs that’s good news!
UC Davis’ TAG full-time requirement is not strictly enforced but I’ve seen instances of a student getting denied after earlier being told by a committee member that they didn’t see an issue and encouraging the student to apply. The problem with the UC Davis TAG rule, and why I am opposed to it, is that it is based “solely on the discretion” of the Davis TAG committee. It is deliberately vague and doesn’t even seem to have consensus within the committee (referring to the above-mentioned case where a student was urged to apply by a Davis TAG committee member and then denied).
I think it’s a rule that is wrong. It either needs to be 100% clear or omitted.
@lindyk8 I completely agree with you! I’m in a bit of bind because I only have about 6 classes so in order to fulfill the full time status I might have to find filler classes to take just to have full time status.
@diamonddogs well if you take easy ones it can be a bit of a GPA boost - and also if you only have one class in spring and the provisional says the spring term must be at least a 3.0 overall (or even 3.2 I have seen on occasion), you could be in trouble if the grade for that one course is B- or C+. Always good to have some easy buffers in there.
You’re allowed to transfer 4 semester units of P.E.
@diamonddogs You are taking 6 classes? How many units are each class and what is full-time status considered at your school?
@lindyk8 @boxandwhiskers Sorr, I should clarify, I only have 6 major required classes left to take before transferring :P. So my dilemma is whether to get filler classes just so I can be considered fulltime student or just take the remaining classes and try my luck with Davis’ full time transfer policy.
@diamonddogs aaah okay. I was going to say - I think 6 is enough to be full-time!
I’m the kind of person who would just take filler classes to be considered full-time, to cover my bases because i’m terrified of not following the rules exactly and then finding it to screw me over later on. I’m terrified of that, but that’s just me. But if you can take some easy filler classes just to bump you to full-time, there’s other benefits to it as well (can bump up your GPA, for example).
Haha, I’m in the same boat! I only have 2 more classes for my major requirement (they’re a sequenced class so I have to take 1 each quarter) and 1 more for IGETC. So now, I’m just looking at filler classes/easy As!
@musicallyweird take some film classes. Always (somewhat) easy and fun. Because movies.
@boxandwhiskers Thanks! Also looking at online classes because a lot of them tend to be easy/ little work : P
