I've been lurking the boards for a while but I have a question that finally compelled me to stop lurking and make an account already. I'm a junior this year and i'm planning to take the SAT II's in june. i'll be applying to some HYPs and ivies so i was thinking of taking math II, us history, and lit. however, i'm afraid that i'll bomb one of them and will have to cancel all three scores. i've read that lit is the hardest and am considering taking that in november along with the chinese sat ii. but is the november test date too late for EA decisions?

so basically, should i take all three tests in one sitting, or take math ii and us history (those will also be fresh on my mind and i'm sure i'll forget most of it over the summer) in june and take lit in the fall?

If you’re applying to HYPS you definitely don’t want to take lit (or any test for that matter) without proper preparation. The November test date should be fine for EA, but why not October? Taking the SAT?

oh i just wanted to take it in november because that’s also when the chinese sat ii with listening was offered so i just wanted to do both in one sitting.

Check with each specific school, in general the Nov. date is fine for EA/ED. Many schools say the test date in the month of the deadline (Nov. for early, Jan. for regular) is acceptable. BUT do check each school’s website.

Keep in mind you now have score choice, you can send whichever scores you want (again, in general, check with the specific school). And finally I would strongly discourage you from taking 3 SAT subject tests in one sitting, particularly if you’ve never taken any subject tests previously. You’re likely to do poorly on at least that last one, and possibly the others.
