Your grades are great and your EC's/Awards could be better for a good chance at those top schools, but your main problem right now would have to be your test scores. I would really recommend you work on those.

I agree, your test scores are kind of low, if not average. This single admissions factor does not seem to weigh you down that much, considering how high your GPA and class rank are.

yale - high reach
brown - reach

nice GPA and class rank but below-average SATs. your ECs also look rather weak. try aiming much lower, like Rice or NYU.

i think if the SAT goes higher, youre a very strong candidate

My problem is that those scores are from the first time I took the SAT. The second time I did about 100 pts worse overall. Do you think it would really be beneficial for me to take it a third time?

EDIT:
Or what about the ACT?

I would really recommend you try the ACT. For the most part, I found it easier, only it's very long and you have to work quickly

I'm having the same problem with test scores--I have identical SAT scores, although I've only taken it once. I thought I did pretty well, and that my scores wouldn't make or break my application...so I think I'm just not going to take them again. Then again, I'm not planning on applying to Brown or Yale, so I don't know. For those I would guess it would be a good idea to raise them a little. Good luck!

Oh, and another weird coincidence: I got the Bausch and Lomb award, too. :)

If I take the ACT, do I have to send both SAT and ACT scores to colleges?

How is your UW gpa higher than the max?!

No you don't have to sent both SAT and ACT. Which is good, because frankly, your SAT2s aren't amazing. So do well on the ACT :D
