Is this possible for me? I am in a high school that is being affected by the budget cut and there is not very many AP classes for me to take. Though, I am finding ways to study on my own in most of the subjects. And I really want to take AP Art Studio, but unlike other tests this, requires to turn in a portfolio!

I was thinking: There is a regular art class in my school and if I do the same quality art in that class, can I turn in my portfolio independently? (that's kinda like "taking" an AP art class right?)

Please let me know if this is possible.
(I'd love to get feedback from people with personal experience too)

yes, you can turn in a portfolio w/o the class so long as you meet the requirements for the # of pieces and have slides/or photos. I took AP studio art drawing last year. Am taking 2D design this year. The one thing about AP studio art is that there is a minimum of i think 22 pieces (24 w/o closeups). So it really depends on how much time you have. When I took a regular art class, we only did a piece about every three weeks. w/ AP, unless you have all your breaths done (if u have 12 pieces from prior drawing classes, etc.) you are looking at a picture or drawing every one and a half weeks or so. I think that if you are planning to individually take the AP test, you’d probably have to do some out of class work. If u have the time, go for it.
