Take intro to Econ or place out?

Simple question? Doing A Levels, 13 years of secondary education, want to major in econ and don't really want to go over the same material. Expecting an A on my exam, which will allow me to place out of both intro classes.

But on the flip side... will 3000 level classes (intermediate) be too intense for a first semester freshman?

If I do take the intro class, would you recommend micro or macro? More interested in macro but I heard micro is more quantitative and am a bit eager to get stuck into mathematics applied to econ. Also, surely getting a good base and a solid GPA will pay off in the long run?

how are you in calculus? you’ll need calculus for at least Econ 3130. I don’t think that class was overly intense when I took it a few years ago, so I would say it’s generally OK, but if you haven’t taken calculus before (or struggled with it) then maybe I would caution against it.

PS. 13 years of secondary education seems a bit extreme. didn’t you have any primary schooling?

Yeah, ok, you know what I meant when I said 13 years :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, i’m pretty comfortable with calculus. Can place out of Calc 1 and have covered half the stuff in calc 2

I also recommend placing out of intro econ.
