Opinions on Freshman Schedule

Is this schedule manageable?

PE 1580: Principles of Weight Training
FWS
Econ 3130: Intermediate Microeconomic Theory
Math 1110: Calc I
Language: Either intro Spanish or Italian

I got a 5 on the Calc AB exam junior year so I place out of Calc I. I don't remember much from Calculus though, so would it be worth it to take Calc I? Also, I place out of both the intro micro and macro classes. How hard is intermediate micro and macro theory?

Thanks!

That schedule looks very doable.

Intermediate isn’t easy (many upperclassmen in that class), but it’s doable if you work hard. There also might be some advanced math involved in some of the more advanced econ classes so keep an eye out for that.

As for Calc I, it’s up to you. If you are VERY rusty, you might want to retake it. However, if you still know the material fairly well, it’s up to you. If you retake it, it will be a very easy class but you’ll probably be bored in the class. If you take a advanced math class, it’ll be challenging but it’ll probably be much more interesting (depending on your interest in math) Which option appeals to you more?

I appreciate your input!

I think I’m leaning towards taking Calc I. Although the class may be boring, it won’t hurt to solidify my understanding of the fundamentals of Calculus. In regards to Econ 3130, if the class is mostly upperclassmen would it be a mistake for me to take it as a freshman? At this point, I think i want to be an Econ major. Although, I obviously don’t want to take a class freshman year that I’m not ready for even though I took AP Micro and Macro my senior year and did well on both AP exams.

Absolutely not. As long as you have the appropriate pre-reqs and you put in a solid effort, you’ll be fine! Just keep in mind it’s probably going to be more challenging and demanding of your time.
