29 in June, 31 in September, but it's more of a mental thing that I want to leave high school with a 1450/1600 (33-34 ACT) type score, I just really want that score which I feel I should and can get. My highest subscores- 31 E, 35M, 31R, 30S. I might not be able to score the score to a few places, but it could help if I get a 33 or 34. Nothing else to do 8 AM on a Saturday, right? But I have done NO PREP at all. Would it be worth my $80?

Go for it. I also got a 31 in September and I'm taking it again w/no prep because I truly believe that I should be in the 32-34 range. Also, getting a higher score would put me in much better position for merit scholarships and admission into my first choice university.

You've got nothing to lose, I say just try it.

If I got a 32, it would be another $70 down the drain because I would have to quickly send those scores again lol, but yeah I think it's worth it. I can't really focus on the test because I'm working on college apps, but I really want that 33 so badly, and a 34 would make my year. I also have SAT subject tests that I'm taking on standby, I just feel bad losing all this extra money because of standby, but like you said, that can be offset with scholarships.

Yeah lol I'm in the same boat as you. Although many people on this site are disappointed with a 33/34, I'd be very, very happy with that.

With a 35+, it makes it difficult for a college like Harvard to reject you. Then almost everyone has a 34, and the rejection rate goes higher. But yeah I'm not applying to Ivies unless I get a 34, but I don't want to think about that right now, I just have to think about having my mind extremely ready for this test on Saturday if I'm taking it. I just don't want that disappointment of losing $80. I don't care about the time, it's just that ACT and Collegeboard are after our money!

If I were you, don't take the ACT as a standby. Sign up for the December ACT, and have your colleges listed since the Dec ACT is usually the last one they will take. Buy prep books, and go through them each 5 times before you take the practice tests. It's not worth it to take it this weekend, if you don't really feel that confident.

Yes, definitely take it Dec and study until that date.

Edit: We are going at the same trend, my first ACT was 29, my second was 31. I want to get it up to a 34+ this December. I'm also taking SAT IIs Decemeber. I understand how you feel about that mental thing. My SAT scores are very poor according to CC standards, and when I compare them to classmates, I feel inferior even though I know I could really do better on the test. That and getting into college should provide you enough motivation to try to study + write essays.
