Once you arrived near the Elon campus, how many separate trips did you (and or members of your family) make to the local stores to buy your child "stuff" before you left for home? This includes: Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart, B&N local bookstore.

We flew in and upon arrival we picked up a pre-order at the Greensboro Bed Bath Beyond, shopped for items on a prepared list at the Greensboro Target, bought some school supplies at the Barnes & Nobel on campus and made one trip to the Burlington Bed Bath Beyond to return a few items my son did not need and to pick up a few items we had not anticipated he would need.

“i would like to know from the parents of freshmen here, are your kids calling or emailing you since you left?” -

One hint that I never used but loved was to sent a letter telling them how much you miss hearing from them and that you hope the enclosed check helps pay for something special. Then don’t enclose a check, they will call…

PS: Not the parent of a freshmen and this ain’t my first rodeo…

also, not the parent of a freshman; and we STILL made a trip to Walmart and Target…

For those of you lamenting the lack of communication…I don’t even expect a response from a text message anymore within an hour; today it went 4 hours unanswered…haha

One trip to Target for a laundry basket, a case of soda pop, some light bulbs and some hardware items. Total cost: $32.00. My daughter was VERY prepared. Move-in could not have gone any better and I was very impressed by Elon’s itinerary and helpfulness. Since then, we’ve traded text messages once or twice per day. (A lot of these expressed relief about choosing Elon over Tulane!)
