Hey guys! From the title, I am taking Algebra 2 as a sophomore, but I really want to get into calculus BC when I hit my junior year, because I find this math course really interesting. I could of taken Algebra 2 as a freshmen, but I did not know that I could double on math at the time. Is there anyway I could get ahead? (Note, my school's Precalculus course, called Precalculus BC, teaches PreCal along with Calculus AB curriculum, so I may not be able to take a summer/online course since it is so watered down)

If you took Calculus BC as a junior, what would you take in your senior year? There’s probably no point in trying to get out of pre-calculus unless it would give you the opportunity to take multivariable calculus (or another post-Calculus II math course) in high school.

That is exactly what I am trying to do actually.

Coursera might offer a Pre-Calculus course but I doubt it will include any AP Calculus AB material. I took a Calculus One (AP Calculus AB) course that is offered as a self-paced class and in September I will start a Single Variable Calculus course (AP Calculus BC). If you decide to accelerated your math studies, I think Coursera would be a great tool. I could have planned to take BC Calculus my junior year (this year) but as @halcyonheather mentioned I wouldn’t have a math class in my senior year (since I’m taking AP Statistics as a junior). I hope that you choose a path that will not cause you to have a mental breakdown.

@TengoQueSaber thanks for the advice, and I promise you that I won’t have a mental breakdown lol.

@Kathika101 lol and no problem :)
