Taking Ap classes in Senior year

Hi, I’m wondering if it’s worth taking Ap classes in Senior year. I’m going to start my Senior year on September 6th when Summer vacation is over. Due to college applications being due in January is it worth taking AP classes? Since Ap exams are in May.

Showing good HS course rigor is always a plus if you are applying to colleges. Have you taken any AP classes prior to Senior year? If so which ones and which courses are thinking of taking for Senior year? Very few colleges will consider your AP exam scores in your admission decision and they know that there will not be any scores available at the time of application so there is no downside on taking AP classes Senior year. Make sure you select courses you know you will do well in.

In addition to the answer above, I think they will prepare you better for your college experience

If you’ve never taken an AP course, you can easily take any from:
APES (Environmental), AP Psych, AP stats, AP computer science principles, AP human geography.

If you got a B or higher in precalculus honors, or an easy A in precalculus, you can take calculus AB.

If you like to write, AP English language and composition.

If you’re taking Precalculus senior year and like math applications, AP physics 1.

If you like social science or might major in business, AP Economics (especially Macro). AP Macro + AP Gov will help you understand society.

If you’ve never taken any AP, take an absolute maximum of three as the method and workload will be a shock - bit it’ll be excellent preparation for college.

If you’ve already taken some APs, which ones and High APs are you thinking of for senior year?

Yes it is worth it because:

  1. Colleges take into account the difficulty of your classes.
  2. It prepares you for college level work
  3. You may get college credit
  4. Colleges don’t really use your AP scores for admission…they use your grades in the AP class.
