taking difficult classes and have low gpa

hey all,

i just wanted to know what you guys thought about my situation:

i am a junior and currently taking clases that are considered rigorous for my school like physics C, linear algebra and differential equations, ap us, ap lit , ap calc bc (i am sure there are people out there with harder classes but for my school this is considered difficult) and i am not getting as high grades as i think are needed to get into colleges that i think i would like to go to(like u chicago , columbia, stanford etc..). my average is probably around 93 or 92 and i am really stressed out that i think i have blown my chances of getting into a college that i would really like to go to. My question is: will colleges really take into account the difficulty of my classes when they judge me for admissions enough so that my average will be competitive for the other candidates applying. Thank you for your time. ;)

there are definitely people at my school who have a much higher average than me. Some people (at last a few but probably not the majority) who take similar classes to mine also have higher averages. also my teacher and guidance recommendations would probably be pretty decent. With that in mind would you think that i could still be a competitive applicant?

I don’t know about the specifics of how your school does GPA, but assuming your 93 is from getting low As in all your classes (rather than like a 98 and a bunch of Bs) you don’t look like you’re doing too poorly.

The most competitive schools won’t typically accept applicants who don’t take the hardest/almost the hardest courses available in the school, so people with a higher GPA in easier classes isn’t something to worry about.
