Hi,

I am a transfer student (from a CCC) to Berkeley that was just admitted!
For the Berkeley Summer Session, I am planning on taking only EECS42 and EECS43 (first semester/commuter).

However, Physics is a subject I dislike.
1. Will doing EECS42 in the summer be super hard because I have half the days to learn? Then again, I have like double the time per day though.
2. Will EECS42 be easier in Fall with 2-3 other courses because I have twice the number of days?
3. Should I take EECS43? Will I get denied to the CS major if I don't? What is the benefit of it?

If I don't take EECS42/43, I will probably take CS61C (I have fulfilled CS61B but not CS61A). Maybe this is a worse idea?

Thanks in advance!

I have no idea on EECS43, but EECS42 is easier than EECS40 supposedly. If this were my first course at Cal, and I was a CS major, I’d take CS61A. I would feel as if I were on shaky ground taking CS61C – from what I hear it’s much more difficult than CS61A-B (depending on the prof) and assuming you’ve only taken an intro to programming and data structures course at a CCC, you’ll want more programming experience and a stronger background in CS theory before CS61C.

I’d take CS61A. If you don’t like physics, you won’t like circuits. And you don’t want your first bite of Cal to be bad.

A EECS grad student told me that CS61C was being taught by Dave Patterson in Spring 11, one of the people who invented RAID. I would definitely take that then.

You’ll probably want to take 61A.

Thanks, but the only problem is that CS61A has 13 people on the waitlist!
There are 105 maximum students in the class though and it starts on June 21st.
Do you think I can get in?

Besides that, does anybody know about EECS43?

bump Please help
