I just registered half an hour ago. I've taken the Kaplan course for SAT in the summer and studied my butt off for the PSAT and got a 217 (80 M, 73 CR, 64 W). It's enough for the cutoff.

I'm trying to get 2200, and I'm wondering how much the PSAT score correlates with the SAT score. I hear that people who do poorly on the PSAT score higher on the SAT and people that do well tend to score less.

I'm really bummed out because this probably means that my Christmas break is not really a break.

Any suggestions on which areas to study first? I know that many of you took the SAT and the experience of the month before the SAT. I would like to have as much encouragement as possible.

October SAT-2120 (Math: 640, CR: 800, W: 680-70 & 8 essay)
-in between I learned functions, which accounts for the difference in math-
PSAT two weeks later: 220 (Math: 75, CR: 79, W: 64)

Thanks for saying about the Jan date...I really have to get up on studying...can't believe it's already dec!

For what is worth, the only prep I had for my SAT was the Kaplan course in the month before, and I got good scores. I think you'll do fine, don't worry too much and good luck!

PSAT scores and SAT scores somewhat correlate but somehow it really doesn't. One of my friends only got a 212 on his PSAT and then on his SAT he received a 2310 and the two tests were taken within 2 months (in Oct. and Dec.). He didn't really study; it was just that the PSAT has a really harsh curve. You can get a 2200 on your SATs, don't worry.

hey I'll be taking my first SAT in Jan also!

I got a 227 on my PSAT, and I don't plan to study too much for the SAT...the bright side is, a big improvement b/w your first and second times is usually looked upon favorably. Besides, it'll be fun (sort of) to spend your first SAT just scoping out the feeling/environment and just relax and see how well your brain serves you! :-)
