I’m a 9th grader, and ik this is a little late since I’m already a semester into the course, lol. So far, the tests are just really hard for me, and I always end up failing it. However, I’m very fortunate to have a teacher who does test corrections(We can make up 1/2 pts of the questions we missed back). Ex) If I got an 87 I could get a 92 after doing test corrections(Which I obviously do) I heard that it was the easiest AP course to take, but I’m struggling with it. Porbably due to me not liking/comprehending history, in general, that well. I just took it for the college credit, not for my “enjoyment.” Any tips on how to approach this, I just want to get ready before I take the AP exam in May, so I can target my weaknesses(Which I’m not sure about). Oh, and I also do bad on the FRQ’s probably since I suck at essays anyways. Reading books and articles could be a simple solution for that, but not sure about the multiple choice portion of each Unit test in human geography. Right now, I have a 79(Really want to get it to an 85+).
Human Geo is been notorious as a “free AP”. I would suggest you do the best you can and don’t take APs next year. Try to think about “causes” of history, not pure memorization.
Also, I don’t think any colleges give out credit for AP Human Geo since its so notorious.
Paying attention in class and reading your book is more than enough to do well on the essay. I got a 4 on the exam, without any extra supplements besides what the school gave me. The MC might not be directly from the book, but if you know the concepts, you should be fine. As for the FRQs, don’t treat it like an essay. The graders actually just want you to get straight to the point, so if you are poor at essays, this should ease your mind a bit. Just write what you need to write, without the added fluff that essays require. With this, you should pass easily.
