Hi everyone! Next year I’m going to be a freshman, and the only AP course offered is AP Human Geography. Since it’s my first AP, what are the things I should expect from the class? The difficulty? The quizzes and things? Most of the time I like being pretty prepared for my more tougher classes, so what are some ways I can study/be prepared for this class over the summer? I was thinking of buying a Barron’s review book and skimming through some of the things in there and just keeping it until I actually take the exam. Thanks!
From what I’ve heard, AP human geo is one of the easiest APs. The grading is obviously something I can’t help you with because every teacher is different. I don’t really think you’ll need to pre-prep. I know someone who studied the entire material in a week and a half. That being said, I’ve only taken math and science APs (sophomore). Generally, I find grasping all of the material in class a bit more difficult, so more self studying.
All my friends that took it said that’s it’s a very easy A, but be mindful that it’s a low-tier AP class and some colleges don’t offer credit for it. I also noticed that they used the Barron’s review book throughout the year to study for tests and quizzes. Good luck!
I just took APHG this year and you’ll do well as long as you know all your vocabulary and theories/models. In my class, it was a fairly easy A as long as you did all the worksheets and stuff but it all depends on your teacher. If you’re an overall good student (lots of As) then I don’t think you need to study over the summer. Human Geo is one of the easiest APs and you will most likely learn all that you need to in class. The review books I used were Kaplan and the Princeton Review and I felt pretty confident taking the exam. good luck to you!
