Does it show to colleges that you are more equipped for higher math?

Taking Math 2 does show that you have a more extensive knowledge of Math and not everyone can take it. Math 2 is also easier to do well on since it has a much more generous scale than the Math 1. However, to colleges, that means that a 750 on the Math 1 will look stronger than a 750 on the Math 2.

Does Math 1 include pre-calculus/trig?

Math I doesn't have trig, I believe. Only really basic trig at most. Most likely no pre-calc stuff either.

"However, to colleges, that means that a 750 on the Math 1 will look stronger than a 750 on the Math 2."

This is not true. Some colleges do prefer the Math 2 exam. I think the UC's require it.

your answer your questions... YES

I took the math I and it was a MISTAKE. I usually get high 700s in the math on the Math II practice tests Ive been taking, but when I took the I in June 06' (10th grade), I got a 680. The curve is horrible. I advise taking at least pre calculus by the end of your junior year and then taking the IIC to get a good score...

yes, chip is right. The curve for Math I is terrible. If you have taken pre-cal, it would probably even be easier to score high on Math IIc!

Math IC is slowly being phased out it seems, as schools such as the UCs have started to require exclusively Math IIC. The curve for Math IIC is very generous. 6 wrong/skipped questions will still land you an 800, and generally a lot of study will get you at least a 750+
