Taking PChem Pass/Fail (BME) for PreMed.

Hi,

I'm a sophomore Biomedical Engineering Major at University of Michigan. I stupidly, at the beginning of the year, enrolled for Chem 230, or generic Physical Chemistry for premeds. I found out, a week after the add/drop deadline that for my major, I need a class called BME 221, which is Physical Chemistry for BMEs. Taking Chem 230 will NOT get me out of taking BME 221, which means I HAVE to take both these classes. My course/research load is very heavy this semester.

I was wondering if it would look bad on a transcript for Med School to take Chem 230 (Which I really don't need) pass/fail. I would later "reveal" the grade on my transcript. I just don't want to stress out about this stupid class I don't need, because I eventually have to retake pchem later. will this look bad?

Why don’t you just drop the class? Given the date (early in the semester) it should be easy enough to explain that it was a mistake. Have you taken a midterm yet? If you stay, do you have any reason to fear your grade? In my sophomore year I took PChem (the equivalent at your school to Chem461) and enjoyed it very much but the lab was very time consuming.
