Taking Physics Series at two different CC's?

I am currently taking my Physics series at Glendale Community College, I have taken all my other required courses at Pasadena Community College (Math, CS, etc). I have taken Physics1 and Physics2 at Glendale , unfortunately I don’t believe it is possible for me to take the last series of Physics at Glendale (Physics3) due to scheduling conflict with my other classes. I can take the last level of Physics at Pasadena but I am worried that since I am taking the physics series at 2 different CC it won’t fulfill my Physics requirement to transfer as a Computer Science Student.

I am in the process of completing my UC application to transfer to a UC FALL23, I must complete Physics3 by Spring23.

The course description at Glendale matches the cause description at Pasadena, while its not word for word that topics covered at Glendale are the same topics covered at Pasadena.

Can I finish my Physics series at 2 different Community Colleges?

Is it recommended I finish my Physics series at 1 Community College or required for admissions?

@Gumbymom

Check ASSIST.org pages to see if physics is required for CS at a particular UC, and whether the courses articulate by course or by series. If by series, you may have to take the entire series at the same community college.

Examples:

  • GCC β†’ UCI CS: Welcome to ASSIST – physics not required
  • GCC β†’ UCI CSE: Welcome to ASSIST – GCC PHY 101 β†’ UCI PHYSICS 7C/7CL, GCC PHY 102 β†’ UCI PHYSICS 7D/7DL on a course by course basis (i.e. mix and match possible)
  • GCC β†’ UCLA CS: Welcome to ASSIST – GCC PHY 101 and 102 and 103 β†’ UCLA PHYSICS 1A and 1B and 1C and 4AL and 4BL on a series basis (i.e. all should be taken at GCC)
  • GCC β†’ UCM CS: Welcome to ASSIST – GCC PHY 101 β†’ UCM PHYS 008/008L, GCC PHY 102 β†’ UCM PHYS 009/009L (i.e. mix and match possible, and only those two physics courses listed)
  • GCC β†’ UCR CS: Welcome to ASSIST – GCC PHY 101 and 103 β†’ UCR PHYS 40B, GCC PHY 102 β†’ UCR PHYS 40C (i.e. need both PHY 101 and 103 at GCC to cover UCR PHYS 40B)
  • GCC β†’ UCSC CS (BA): Welcome to ASSIST – physics not required
  • GCC β†’ UCSC CS (BS): Welcome to ASSIST – physics not required

In other words, it looks like UCLA CS and UCR CS are problematic if you do not take PHY 103 at GCC, assuming that you took PHY 101 and 102 at GCC.

You can check yourself for UCB, UCD, UCSB, UCSD.

Looks like @ucbalumnus has pretty much posted the required information and as noted, if the whole Physics series is a requirement then taking the series at the same CC appears to be the preference. Since you have a schedule conflict, I would add this information in the additional comments section.
