Taking SAT Language Test In Your Native Language

What do colleges think abouta bilingual applicants who have 4 years of language classes in school but took the sat subject test of their native language.

Example:
In school: 4 years of Spanish
Sat subject test taken: French w/listening

Is this looked down upon?

Yes, I think it’s looked down upon, but obviously it doesn’t hurt, just doesn’t look as good as a non-native language test. But I know for some colleges that require SAT Subject Tests, a test in your non-native does not count as one of the two required. For example, read this: [Harvard College Admissions § Applying: Requirements](http://www.admissions.college.harvard.edu/apply/application_process/requirements.html#scores)
