I'm planning on studying during the summer and taking the test in October to get it over with. Retake possibly in January or something.
I'm aiming for the 2300 range
Do you think this is too early?
Thanks for reading :)

Not at all. In fact that’s what most people do, or sometimes even in November. Usually that’s also when not-so-smart seniors retake so supposedly the curve is higher. But I don’t really believe int hat, but that’s not so early at all.

I’m assuming you’re an upcoming junior. I recommend taking it in the spring and retaking, if you want, in the fall of senior year. It kind of depends more on when you think you’re ready. Just take it when you feel that you can get close to your goal.

Aside from the financial factor as a negative of multiple testing, the positives are the more you study, prepare and take the SAT/ACT, generally the higher your score will be each time, IF you commit yourself to preparing, studying, analyzing your errors and discovering which of the two tests work best for you. With the aforementioned methods I have always witnessed demonstrated progress and higher scores in these exams. Often it can be test taking strategies that yield higher or just as high results as general overall intelligence can.

yes, i am a rising junior, sorry i forgot to mention that
i appreciate all your input, thanks!

hey we’re on the exact same boat! i have the goal of 2300+, and i know that’s lofty since the test is in october, but i think it’s totally doable! that’s subject to change, but that’s how i feel for now. good luck!

sounds like a good date to me.

take it as early as possible
as long as you are well prepared.
