Taking Spanish over the summer

hey...im a soph in Southern CA and I would like to kno if taking spanish over the summer at a community college would hurt my transcript. You see, Im taking a first year class (i know, i know, a really stupid mistake on the course request form in 9th grade) and I want to take an extra AP science class next yr instead of a science class. Btw, i also want to do this next summer so that i can take AP stats! any comments?

I'm a junior in southern california, and this past summer I took spanish 103 (which is equivalent to Spanish 7/8), at a city college. It was a great class and I learned a hundred times more than in any spanish class I'd taken in high school. I'm almost positive that all city college classes are weighted. So if you are a good student and can get an A, it will count as a 5.0 on your transcripts. As long as you do the work and pay attention in class it is fairly easy to get an A. This would be good for you to do because a Spanish 1/2 class at your high school would not be weighted. It would be a good idea to check with your counselor to verify the grading system. But I would definitely suggest you take it in the summer.

ok great thanks!

bummmppppp anyone else?

I would think that colleges would look at that in favor, especially if you got an A in the class.

im pretty much set on taking span over teh summer now. The problem is whether my high school will let me get high school credit that qualifies for the "a-g" reg. For example, is there a limit on the # of credits u can have on ur transcript per year?

You need to be careful on whether or not the school will let you count the class as placement or credit, and whether or not the class will be weighted into your GPA. It could actually pull your GPA down if your school doesn't weight the class.

I don't think there is a limit, and you can count it towards your sophmore year or junior year. I'm pretty sure.

thanks for the replies

have any of you guys taken it for two summers and not taken it during the school yr? im concerned that im going to forget too much
