Taking Subject Tests in Gap Year for UCs

I took a 2-year gap after high school to work on a few startups and am planning on applying this year (as we are nearing an acquisition!). Out of high school, I was planning on going into Business, but after my gap year I’ve realized I want to instead pursue CE or CS. I only did Math 2 in HS (800), but didn’t consider taking any other subject tests. I’ve read on the forum that the UCs don’t consider tests taken after I graduated from high school, so does that mean I’m unable to apply to engineering programs at UCs that require 2 subject tests?

@gumbymom?

UC’s only recommend not require SAT subject tests for certain majors (CS/Engineering) and taking one after 2 years post graduation may not help but if you want to take another SAT subject test then take one. You will not penalized.

Thanks for the advice. Cal and UCLA both seem to highly recommend the subject test for engineering and CS. Just don’t want to be disadvantaged while applying. According to the UC freshman requirements page: https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/admission-requirements/freshman-requirements/, it says they only consider tests up till December of your senior year. I am pretty sure I won’t be penalized for taking it, just trying to figure out if it is worth it if they won’t even consider it.
