Taking summer courses before attending university in the fall

Starting this September, I’ll be a freshman at UC Santa Barbara. My mom is making me take two courses this summer at my local community college in order to receive more credit early. I’ve been thinking about how busy I would be this summer and considering dropping one of those two courses. If my transcript from the community college indicates that I drop the course, will that make me look bad? Will that penalize me in any other way?

I apologize if this is a dumb question and if this is not the right forum.

A Withdrawl on the your transcript will have no impact.

Check with UCSB to make sure that attending a CC does not impact your status as a freshman for financial aid purposes.

Also, you should check if the credits from your local CC will even transfer to UCSB since it’s not always the case that it does, depending on your major’s department and such.
